Katy Perry’s fourth single from Teenage Dream, “E.T.,” recently took the top spot on the Billboard Hot 100, and as of today, March 31, it’s got an appropriately sci-fi themed music video to boost its popularity even further. Sure, the space romance theme may be lifted directly from Lady Gaga, but it’s not like Katy Perry was the most original star in the first place.

Last October, she married boyfriend Russell Brand, and it looks as though the state of matrimony has done little to slow down her already successful career. According to Billboard, “E.T.” the fourth single from her album Teenage Dream, recently took the coveted number one spot on their Hot 100 list.
It’s worth mentioning that the song is a caollaboration with Kanye West. Say what you like about him, but that man has the Midas touch.
It is indeed a shame that some of the world’s biggest pop stars don’t pen their own tunes, but that’s been part of the music business for decades now. Katy Perry may have shocked some people with “I Kissed a Girl,” but you may be even more shocked to know that the song was actually written by the prolific Dr. Luke.
However, according to an Associated Press article via Yahoo!, the duo may be ending their working relationship, which could be bad news for Perry.

Married life hasn’t gotten in the way of Katy Perry’s career. The pop star, who wed comedian Russell Brand last October, is ready to begin touring again. She’ll start things off in Portugal, USA Today reports, spending most of the spring abroad. The tour, called “California Dreams,” will hit the States in June.
Last night was the annual People’s Choice Awards, one of the few awards shows that decides who brings home a trophy by asking the general public to vote. (And by “general public,” we mean teenage girls. How else do you explain Grown Ups winning Best Comedy?)
According to MTV, it was a good show this year, with plenty of big names in the pop music world accepting awards and performing for the audience.
VH1′s Divas Salute the Troops was packed with sequins and colorful hair on Sunday night. The event was hosted by comedian Kathy Griffith and featured performances by a variety of divas. Katy Perry and Nicki Minaj covered Cyndi Lauper‘s “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun.” Paramore‘s Haley Williams performed to an enthusiastic crowd in Camp Arifjan in Kuwait. And the legendary Aretha Franklin (who is recovering from surgery) received a surprise tribute from Sugarland and rapper MC Lyte.
Katy Perry will do just about anything to get back at Elmo for not airing their play-date on Sesame Street. First she shows off her cleavage on SNL, and now she shows off her cleavage on The Simpsons. The bubblegum-pop singer was a special guest on the Christmas-themed episode of one of the favorite show on television, The Simpsons.
