Kings Of Leon Cancel Tour Dates As Drummer Recovers From Surgery Kings Of Leon Cancel U.S. Tour After Caleb Followills Onstage Meltdown

Originality not exactly being the band’s strong suit, Kings of Leon frontman Caleb Followill has decided to rip-off that age-old rock ‘n roll tradition and make it his very own: having a drunken meltdown onstage in the middle of a concert, while other band members are forced to apologize and vaguely mention that there are “internal problems,” before saying then cancelling an entire U.S. tour due to—wait for it, wait for it, this is the classic climax—“exhaustion.”  Yup, just simple exhaustion, and not, you know, drugs and alcohol, even if Followill said he had to get off stage in order to vomit and then get more drunk.  Yup.

Well, if in the New York area on April 20th, the chance to either love them more, rip ‘em, or be informed for the first time is yours. Talihina Sky: The Story of Kings of Leon will be screened at New York’s Tribeca Film Festival 2011, and quite thankfully it looks to be an actual documentary and not a “who would I have play me in a movie” ego- and glory-fest. Die-hard fans of Kings of Leon will note that the film’s title comes from an early track of the band’s.

Kings Of Leon Cancel Tour Dates As Drummer Recovers From Surgery Kings Of Leon Cancel Tour Dates As Drummer Recovers From Surgery

Kings of Leon drummer Nathan Followill has a torn bicep. Unfortunately the story does not take a wild turn with reports of a bar fight between Followill and recent nemesis/Glee creator Ryan Murphy (see: Ryan Murphy Despises Kings of Leon For Various Reasons).

Still, with an injured Leon that means a postponement of tour dates in Australia and South Africa. The busted bicep required surgery, which puts the drummer on the shelf for three months.

Kings Of Leon Still Fighting With Glees Ryan Murphy Kings Of Leon Still Fighting With Glees Ryan Murphy

Round one between Glee creator Ryan Murphy and Kings Of Leon featured Murphy calling the band “self-centered assholes” for not letting him use their music on the show, then calling out the band for hating on ‘arts education’ for kids everywhere who wanna rock.

KOL’s Caleb Followill responded calmly by saying the whole hubbub was ‘a shock,’ clearly trying to put a non-story to rest.

But brother Nathan Followill stirred the pot and now Murphy is pissed off again; he’s accused Nathan of homophobia, according to NME.

While “Glee” fever continues to spread across the country, one place the rabid fandom hasn’t reached appears to be the Plastic Beach. Albums of the Week: The Bad, The Good, The Great Kid Cudi Vs. You, Me, and Everyone We Know

A fresh round of new album releases this week shows us the consequences of some things not washing out (at least for You, Me, and Everyone We Know), even Trent Reznor can’t resist facebook (at first denying the offer, then accepting and scoring it “a shade darker”), and despite being arrested for drug possession and pining emotionally about the past, Kid Cudi’s musical odyssey continues as a bold step into a newer, deeper sound.
