Kings Of Leon Preview New Tunes In London Pigeons Ruin Perfectly Good Kings Of Leon Concert

Just because pigeons dropped poop all over Kings of Leon during a show in St Louis doesn’t mean the birds don’t like KOL; it’s not like they despised the band’s last album and decided the best revenge was a kamikaze poop raid on the Grammy-winniners. However, Kings of Leon did stop their show Friday night at the Verizon Wireless Amphitheater after just three songs when the attack of the birds became too much to deal with.

Drummer Nathan Followill later apologized to fans via Twitter, saying, “So sorry St. Louis. We had to bail, pigeons s—ing in Jared’s mouth and it was too unsanitary to continue.”

Much to the chagrin of their record label bosses, Kings of Leon decided to play four new songs from their next, as-yet-untitled album at a sold-out show in London on Wednesday night.

The band figured playing in front of 60,000 fans in Hyde Park was the ideal time and place to road test the previously unheard material. The titles of their 4-song preview included “Mary,” “Southbound,” “Immortal” and “Radioactive.”

Kings Of Leon Win Three Grammys Including Record Of The Year Kings Of Leon Win Three Grammys, Including Record Of The Year

If you told fans of Kings of Leon back in 2003 when they released their debut album Youth and Young Manhood that seven years later they’d be accepting the Grammy for Record of the Year, they might call you crazy. Not because the band wouldn’t be deserving, but the Grammy folks usually are not known for their out of the box thinking to even consider a band like KOL.

But sometimes they get it right and Sunday night at the 52nd Annual Grammy Awards Kings of Leon took home 3 Grammys, including the biggie: Record of the Year. The other two were Best Rock Performance and Best Rock Song for their hit single “Use Somebody” from their 4th studio album Only By The Night.
