It’s that time of year again, when you get to spend the weekend dressed up as your favorite pop culture figure, or gals can dress up as a sexy cat, a sexy nurse, a sexy tomato, a sexy pocket calculator, or whatever else you can wear a short skirt and fishnets with. We thought we’d take a moment here at Beatcrave to offer up a few last minute suggestions for those of you still hunting for that perfect Halloween costume—just dress up as your favorite musician! It’s a lot easier than you think. Happy Halloween, gang.

Well… this is interesting. You know how Queen lead singer Freddie Mercury has been dead for about 20 years now, and Bad Company’s Paul Rogers has been filling in lately? Well, it seems that Queen guitarist Brian May has come up to a solution to the Band’s “singer problem” as he calls it—have Lady Gaga front the band.

For Shaq, his towering height makes him so intimidating because, well, the dude’s big. For Amy Winehouse, it was her amazingly high hair-do. But what was it about the 5’1″ Lady Gaga that made her so incredibly tall that even President Obama found Mother Monster’s presence a bit intimidating? Apparently, it’s her shoes.

Looks like Lady Gaga is laying down the law—against a Chicago company “that has been marketing a line of jewelry and cosmetics called Lady Gaga by Design,” according to Rolling Stone, as “the singer has nothing to do with the products, and she wants to eliminate confusion in the market as she develops her own officially endorsed products, including candles, bags, lanyards, tattoos and wigs.” Which makes sense, because Lady Gaga certainly shouldn’t allow anyone to steal her schtick. I mean, what would David Bowie and Madonna do if some pop singer totally stole their acts and combined them? (oh, wait.)

Sexual reproduction—homo sapiens have been using this process of meiosis and fertilization to genetically further our species since we first originated in Africa some 200,000 years ago. It is a method of reproduction that has generated such historically and culturally significant human beings as Gandhi, Napoleon, Alexander the Great, William Shakespeare, Adolf Hitler, Mother Teresa, Martin Luther King, Miles Davis, Leonardo DaVinci, Joan of Arc, Louis Pasteur, and Charles Darwin. Further, it is a technique that produces 490,000 new babies every day, which equals roughly 179,000,000 new babies every year. And yet, somehow, despite the fact that this process has created nearly 100 billion lives since the dawn of mankind, I have to stop and write about the fact that Beyonce Knowles is knocked up.

It’s nice to know that, despite the daily horrors that surround us on this earth, every once and awhile, heroes emerge to do the right thing and protect the innocent. And by that I mean they throw eggs at Lady Gaga during a concert.

It’s hard to distinguish what is a “good” album and what is a “bad” album these days. Most of the time readers of these sorts of articles disagree with what is judged as “bad” and have some pointed opinions… and for good reason: there isn’t a standard for what is good and what is not. Critics and reviewers who base their professional life on judging the newest album releases could easily be following popular opinion, not forming their own. This week we’ve been graced with Lady Gaga’s 3rd full length and a double feature from Boris.I realized these albums belong in a sub-category of their own. Now, I will introduce this week’s bad, bad/good, good, and great album of the week.

The only way Lady Gaga could shock us in a fashion sense anymore is by wearing a freshly-dead puppy. She once claimed she gets her fashion inspiration from Princess Diana, but we don’t really buy that so much as we think she just throws some random objects into a kiln for an hour and slaps on whatever comes out.
She’s so far out of the box, that the word ‘fashionable’ doesn’t really mean anything to her. She doesn’t care if something looks good. She’s all about provocation and attention. She’s Howard Stern with a vagina. It makes no sense to take into account all her outfits and differentiate them between ‘good’ and ‘bad’, because in her world they mean the same thing. So we picked out Gaga’s ten worst outfits that could also be her best.

The second single from Lady Gaga’s forthcoming album, Born This Way, was released today via various streaming outlets and (so far) in iTunes stores in the UK, Norway and Denmark. The track has already received not-so-positive commentary from various religious groups as to the subject matter. From what we gain from listening to it is the speaker [through Gaga]‘s love conflict between Jesus Christ and Judas Iscariot, which is apparent via the following bridge lyrics: “I want to love you, but something’s pulling me away from you /Jesus is my virtue and Judas is demon I cling to”.
