Some days, you just don’t want to get out of bed. Work, traffic, stress, bad news, etc. There are, however days like today, when a simple 30 second YouTube video of a live Lady Gaga show featuring the Gags getting struck with a metal pole and giving her a concussion is all you need to get out of bed in the morning.
In a moment of irony so strong and contradictory it may burst a few blood vessels in your brain as you read it, Lady Gaga announced that she will not be speaking to members of the media for a very long time…while speaking to a member of the media. It went down during an interview with Oprah (which offers another media paradox—didn’t Oprah retire?), in which the Gags announced a media blackout.
Ever wonder would it would feel like to have your entire cranium implode, just like the guy in Scanners? Well, if so, you’re in luck today. Simply read the following sentence three times: in 2011, Taylor Swift earned more money on tour than U2, Lady Gaga or Adele. If your head is still attached to your neck, I think I typed something wrong.
Adele’s simply inescapable tune “Rolling in the Deep” has now become the biggest and best-selling digital song of all time by a woman in the U.S. and, moreover, has become the second bigget-selling digital song of all time. Not too shabby for a 23 year old soul and pop singer.
Get ready little monsters because Lady Gaga is hitting the stage again. Today, she tweeted the first 11 shows for her ‘Born This Way’ Ball tour. Gaga will begin her tour April 27th at the Olympic Stadium in Seoul, South Korea. After Southeast Asia and Australia, Gaga will head over to Europe, Latin America and North America. No official U.S. dates have been announced as of yet, but be sure to check out her tour poster below.
Finally acknowledging what most listeners could already hear and know, Madonna noted in a new interview with Newsweek that Lady Gaga’s “Born This Way” bears a ridiculously strong resemblance to Madonna’s own “Express Yourself.” Madonna at least tried to be polite about it, however.
The People’s Choice Awards of 2012 were held last night in Los Angeles, and, in addition to actually handing an award out to Kim Kardashian for “Best Celebrity” (seriously), the awards ceremony further pointed out its obsolescence and pointlessness by doling out best music awards to such illustrious musicians as Maroon 5, Demi Lovato, and, of course, Katy Perry.
Forbes just released yet another one of their ‘who’s the richest of them all?’ lists, with today’s list cataloguing the top-earning women of 2011. And number one wasn’t particularly surprising, as she’s inexplicably one of the top names in music: Lady Gaga.
