It’s hard to distinguish what is a “good” album and what is a “bad” album these days. Most of the time readers of these sorts of articles disagree with what is judged as “bad” and have some pointed opinions… and for good reason: there isn’t a standard for what is good and what is not. Critics and reviewers who base their professional life on judging the newest album releases could easily be following popular opinion, not forming their own. This week we’ve been graced with Lady Gaga’s 3rd full length and a double feature from Boris.I realized these albums belong in a sub-category of their own. Now, I will introduce this week’s bad, bad/good, good, and great album of the week.

The only way Lady Gaga could shock us in a fashion sense anymore is by wearing a freshly-dead puppy. She once claimed she gets her fashion inspiration from Princess Diana, but we don’t really buy that so much as we think she just throws some random objects into a kiln for an hour and slaps on whatever comes out.
She’s so far out of the box, that the word ‘fashionable’ doesn’t really mean anything to her. She doesn’t care if something looks good. She’s all about provocation and attention. She’s Howard Stern with a vagina. It makes no sense to take into account all her outfits and differentiate them between ‘good’ and ‘bad’, because in her world they mean the same thing. So we picked out Gaga’s ten worst outfits that could also be her best.

The second single from Lady Gaga’s forthcoming album, Born This Way, was released today via various streaming outlets and (so far) in iTunes stores in the UK, Norway and Denmark. The track has already received not-so-positive commentary from various religious groups as to the subject matter. From what we gain from listening to it is the speaker [through Gaga]‘s love conflict between Jesus Christ and Judas Iscariot, which is apparent via the following bridge lyrics: “I want to love you, but something’s pulling me away from you /Jesus is my virtue and Judas is demon I cling to”.

Is 2011 to be the year of the Gaga - again? Whether or not it is, the 25-year-old songwriter, performance artist and mastermind has shown how serious she is about promoting her forthcoming album, Born This Way. Stunts have so far included the marked presence of shoulder and face horns, arriving to the Grammy Awards in a giant capsule, and being re-birthed onstage. Now, revealing a more spiritual side to the people at Harper’s Bazaar, Gaga has unveiled an origin of the post mortem sort regarding the album’s lead track.

UPDATE: Well, based on the Facebook shares, it looks like we fooled some of you. This is our idea of an April Fools joke. A strangely plausible one.
In hindsight, we should have seen this coming. As you all know by now, Rebecca Black is the biggest thing to happen to the Internet since Al Gore invented it, with her hysterically repetitive song “Friday” and its low-budget music video making the rounds of Twitter accounts, Facebook profiles, and flooded inboxes everywhere.
While most of us have been quick to mock the young wannabe star, Lady Gaga proclaimed that Black is in fact “a genius.”
It looks like she’s willing to put her money where her mouth is. Black is now in the studio recording her debut album, and Lady Gaga has agreed to add her presence to one of the tracks. What’s the world coming to?

Rebecca Black recently became a household name thanks to the bafflingly awful video to her pop tune “Friday,” which has quickly become one of the most popular internet memes of 2011. While most of us find the song to be hilariously awful and the accompanying video to be nothing short of hysterical, it seems there’s at least one major music star who’s got the young singer’s back.
According to Contact Music, Lady Gaga thinks Black is a “genius.”
