Last time we checked Lana Del Rey‘s “Blue Jeans” already had a music video. It was Del Rey’s second self-made video and was shot in a similar fashion to “Video Games” with found footage and snippets of her singing. Still, Del Rey decided to revamp “Blue Jeans”, and what we have now is a 4-minute black-and-white video with Del Rey swimming in pool of crocodiles. Check it out below.
Smashing Pumpkins frontman Billy Corgan thinks today’s young artists are a bunch of ‘posers’. Yesterday, during a one-on-one interview at the SXSW festival in Austin Texas, Corgan went on about the music business, saying it have been impossible for him to break into today’s record industry without setting himself on fire on YouTube.
Last night, internet sensation Lana Del Rey held a concert for her fans at the famous Los Angeles record store, Amoeba. Despite only singing a handful of songs, fans went crazy over Del Rey, yelling things like ‘I Love You’ and ‘Marry Me’. Check below for a live performance of “Video Games.”
UPDATE: According to Pitchfork, Del Rey hasn’t cancelled US Tour. SXSW still cancelled though.
Last night, Lana Del Rey redeemed herself on the Late Show. In an off-white mini-dress, the pouty singer impressed David Letterman so much that he invited her back the next day, and Monday. Paul Schaffer went as far as to call her performance “gorgeous.” Could it be true? Was Del Rey actually great live? Watch her performance below.
Those of you who happen to be internet-savvy music obsessive already know who Lana Del Rey is—the smoky-voiced hipster chanteuse who has yet to actually release an album but has became both and internet sensation as well as the subject of an intense internet backlash due to her music videos for songs like “Video Games” and “Born to Die,” which many see as crass, studio-crafted and designed-by-committee attempts to generate an inauthentic, American Apparel version of hipster pop to shove down America’s throat.
And, for those of you who didn’t know that, perhaps it helps explain who that strangely robotic female singer was on Saturday Night Live this weekend, the one who could barely sing her way out of a wet paper bag live.
Lana Del Rey, the inexplicably mega-hyped retro-soul/pop singer who has yet to actually release an actual album (there’s one coming in 2012) and has risen to seemingly instant internet popularity due to videos for three songs, will be bringing herself to the masses next January, when she will be the musical guest on Saturday Night Live.
