Les Paul the legendary jazz guitarist has passed on at the tender age of 94. Paul was regarded by many as the man who pioneered the solid body electric guitar. Known and loved by fans and musicians alike, the artist was what I would consider an oldie but goody. If it wasn’t for the sound he created from his guitar, we wouldn’t have had the familiar riffs of Van Halen or Guns n’ Roses.
Lets take a stroll down memory lane with one of the original bad asses of music.

The man who created the solid-body electric guitar which has been played by nearly every rock ‘n’ roll great from the 50′s to modern day, Les Paul died today, Thursday August 13th, at 94-years-old, due to complications with pneumonia.
According to Gibson Guitar, “Paul died at White Plains Hospital. His family and friends were by his side.”
Those in the industry have admired and respected him his whole life. In recent year, Paul would perform in New York and musicians such as Jimmy Page, Mark Knopfler, Bruce Springsteen and Eddie Van Halen would come to hear him and pay tribute to him.

Star Wars creator George Lucas has fashioned a Gibson Les Paul guitar with Yoda brandishing a Lightsaber for guitar manufacturer Gibson. It will be joined by Seth Green’s robot chicken design and Stan Lee’s Marvel customization for the auction at the Phoenix Guitar Gala in Petaluma (USA) on 28 February.
More guitar designs will be displayed at the Phoenix Guitar Gala web page, and online bidding will be possible.
