Paul McCartney made his first ever appearance on the Letterman Show last night. Before the show, the golden-god played atop the marquee of the Ed Sullivan Theater — the venue where The Beatles made their musical debut some 40 years ago — and over looking a massive crowd, McCartney and his current band performed five songs; a mix between Firemen and old-Beatles songs.

Brooklyn band Grizzly Bear performed two songs from their album Veckatimest, due next week, in their UK TV debut on BBC2 show Later… With Jools Holland. They will be appearing tomorrow (May 20) on the Late Show with David Letterman.

Animal Collective appropriately played “Summertime Clothes” on Letterman last night just in time for the upcoming season. As you can see Letterman is holding up their latest album, Merriweather Post Pavillion, and he did not miss the chance to insert a joke by saying “Look for it in the wallpaper department of your favorite store.” [I Guess I'm Floating]
Well, at least Animal Collective is finally getting to the point where they get recognized as a “critically acclaimed musical group,” even if someone else had to tell Letterman to say that.
