Yet another musician is making the jump to the world of movies, though not in the usual “pop star starts making romantic comedies” way we’re used to seeing. The latest (and, hopefully, last) installment in the Saw franchise, Saw 3D, hits theaters this Friday, and Linkin Park fans will notice a familiar face on the screen. As it turns out, lead singer Chester Bennington is a big fan of the movies, interrupting a normal tour schedule at times so he can see each sequel as soon as they come out.

MTV VMAs 2010 Video Roundup Taylor Swift Kanye West Florence And The Machine and More MTV VMAs 2010 Video Roundup: Taylor Swift, Kanye West, Florence And The Machine and More

Another year has gone by and and another batch of unnecessary awards shows have also occurred to capitalize on the teen market who ave no clue the “M” in  MTV used to stand for Music Television. Honing in on reality shows such as the filthy Jersey Shore and getting the best B-list celebrity talk show host to talk smack about A-list celebrities (via Chelsea Handler) basically sums up our vapid generation’s interest last night.

But hey, we know some of you were tuned in for the music. That is, whatever is left to be considered music. We’ve got every single VMA performance for you after the jump – but first – let’s take a moment of silence to bow our heads in shame in regards to Justin Bieber winning Best New Artist

Billboards Top Acts of Decade Include Linkin Park and Nickelback Billboards Top Acts of Decade Include Linkin Park and Nickelback

Billboard (via Reuters) recently released their end of the decade issue and after going through numerous music charts based on Neilsen Soundscan, and when it comes to the top rock acts from 2000 – 2010, two main acts stand out in regards to sales: Linkin Park and Nickelback…

We know, we know. Linkin Park is tolerable but Nickelback with their trite songwriting? We want to ask Billboard – Why? Then again, it’s not really Billboard who is choosing these artist. They are merely the messengers. The people buy the music and request DJs to spin these tunes, so it’s really the people who have picked these over-accessible songs as the top artists of the decade.  Check out who else got high honors from Billboard in rock this decade…

Rock Explosions at KROQ Epicenter 2009

StreetSweeperSCEpicenterWinnieJaing20094 Rock Explosions at KROQ Epicenter 2009

Apparently there was an earthquake this past weekend…

Epicenter? Pomona Fairplex in California. Cause? Tool, Linkin Park, and Alice in Chains, among others. August 22, 2009 marked the “first annual” KROQ Epicenter Festival, fondly referred to as KROQ‘s Inland Invasion in past years.

This year’s stellar lineup consisted of bands both new and old: After Midnight Project, Sonny, Paper Tongues, Aesop Rock, Atmosphere, Street Sweeper Social Club, Hollywood Undead, Atreyu, Wolfmother, Alice in Chains, Linkin Park, Dead by Sunrise, and Tool. Even as weather reports threatened Thunderstorms, they didn’t stop concert-goers from flocking to the Fairplex to have a good time. The gloomy morning turned into baking temperatures in the mid-afternoon, but 11 solid hours of music made up for the lack of shade.

After the jump,  check out pictures and my experience at Epicenter’09.

LinkinParkEpicenterFestWinnieJaing20099 Linkin Park: KROQ Epicenter Festival Photos

Though Tool and Linkin Park were both slated as the headliners of KROQ‘s Epicenter Festival, Linkin Park’s performance blew many of the day’s openers out of the water. The uproar of screams started as DJ Joe Hahn took his place behind his turntables. The band slowly filed onto the stage and peformed old hits as well as new, including “From the Inside,” “Points of Authority,” “Lying From You”, and “Leave Out All the Rest.”

Epicenter marks Linkin Park‘s last show of 2009, last show of Minutes to Midnight, and their ONLY North American show in 2009.

If you’re in the LA area tomorrow, you might want to stop by the Pomona Fairplex and catch a few up and coming bands. Who am I kidding? You might want to FLY to Los Angeles tonight to catch some of the biggest names in music: Alice In Chains, Linkin Park, and Tool are headlining, but Wolfmother, Atreyu, and BeatCrave Favs After Midnight Project and Paper Tongues are slated to play as well.

KROQ‘s Annual Inland Invasion has come back bigger and better, and with a new name: Epicenter. In the past, bands like Incubus, The Offspring, Social Distortion, Blink-182, Muse, The Walkmen and Kings of Leon have graced their stages. This year, Linkin Park‘s Chester Bennington will be debuting his new project, Dead By Sunrise, to Southern California, with members Ryan Shuck and Amir Dreakh (from Orgy/Julien-K), Brandon Belsky, Elias Anda (Also from Julien-K), and Anthony Valcic.
