The majority of our picks for this weekend have one thing in common: electronica. Thankfully, electronica is not limited to one particular genre, which has given the following bands a green light to use liberally, much to the delight of our ears. From classical to glam to indie rock, it works. Check out our picks below.

We love it when artists still take time to create music videos for their singles. Little Boots is back with a third video for her song, “Earthquake,” – one of the best dance anthems off of her album, Hands.
There is the usual motif of space and glitter, but Boots (aka Victoria Hesketh) looks especially great in this video. It’s a little dramatic with her star-gazing and hand gestures toward the sky, but we all know by now that Little Boots leaves dancing up to her other video cast members.

Perez Hilton, the somewhat A-list celebrity who makes fun of other real A-list celebrities is having major troubles with this tour he launched. Snatching up artists such as Little Boots and Ladyhawke, the tour was supposed to be phenomenal and show that Hilton could really be part of the music industry.
Obviously, he thought wrong because the tour has barely been able to sell tickets, leading his team to severely slash the prices down to almost nothing. This little team in his head didn’t work and there is another team that flaunts an I-told-you-so sign at him with no regrets.

For those of you who don’t have an iPhone or iPod Touch with the Soundscan 2.0 nor have enough money to buy a Yamaha Tenori-On, you can still be like Little Boots and have your own synthesizer.
Along with the Yamaha Tenori-On, the Tone Matrixwas the inspiration for Soundscan 2.0 and it comes in handy if you are a musician who creates a bulk of your work on a macbook.
If you liked the astro-projecting vibe of Yo La Tengo’s video we featured yesterday but wanted something a little more upbeat, we got you. Here’s your electro/synth-pop morsel for the day.
Little Boots (aka Victoria Hesketh), one of our BeatCrave Favs, is back with another video to promote her new single, “Remedy.” Although I still wish she had a video for her overnight hit, “Stuck On Repeat,” or “Meddle” which she heavily uses her Yamaha Tenori-On in, “Remedy” is definitely one of the best dance songs off her debut album, Hands.
Black Eyed Peasfans can rest easy! The band’s new album titled “The E.N.D” does not signify the END of the group, it actually stands for “The Energy Never Dies”. Of all the artists, and yes there are a lot, coming out with an album this week, the most exciting is Mos Def’s new one. One of the most under-rated hip hop artists of our time, Mos Defis a true lyricist that has not succumbed to mainstream pressure and has stayed authentic even after all these years.
Here is the list of albums coming out the week of June 9th:
Little Boots has a new video out! Although I wish she had made a video for “Meddle” or “Stuck On Repeat” instead, “New in Town,” is undoubtedly pure pop fun. Little Boots seems to be out place in each scene with her dolled up hair and sparkly blue dress, but then again, the homeless and gangsters both end up doing choreographed dance moves… Nonetheless, neither of those things matter in the end because with one listen to the track, you’ll have the chorus stuck in your head all day.
Little Boots was one of our BeatCrave Favs a few months earlier because she proved to be better than the average pop star with her Yamaha Tenori-On. Check her other songs out after watching this video above via Pitchfork TV.
Do you think she chose the right song for her first official video/single?
We’ve picked out our favorite artists of the week. Now it’s your turn to pick yours!
Is it the hypnotic steampunk band, Abney Park (listen here), the fashionable duo, The Keyishe (listen here), the Australian electro-pop group, Cut Copy (listen here), or the British Tenori-on loving pop star, Little Boots (listen here)?
The number one voted artist will recieve a special BeatCrave feature at the end of the month. So support your favorite band and vote for them in our BeatCrave Fav Poll!
Little Boots may be a perfect stage name for a small British girl, but Victoria Hesketh’s sound is anything but petite. Her style incorporates a Yamaha Tenori-On, synthesizer, stylophone, and piano with a sublime combination of disco and electronic beats underneath genuine vocals. Her crisp songwriting is easily paving her path to become one of the best pop stars out there today. Multi-tasking has never sounded so addicting.
It’s funny to think she started out by posting YouTube videos of herself using her new toy, but her art will go beyond much more than blog popularity. She is already performing at a handful of shows around the world and scheduled for multitude of SXSW parties. I, personally, cannot wait to hear her full-length debut after hearing songs such as “Stuck On Repeat” and “Meddle.” I have a feeling it’ll be one of top albums I listen to most in 2009. Getting Greg Kurstin of The Bird and The Bee to perfect the release might also confirm that.
Check Little Boots out in our BeatCrave Fav series below and vote for her in Friday’s poll!
