This weekend is the showcasing of the one-man (or one-woman) sense of expression. Of course, all the acts selected are worthy of equal parts consumption. In addition to a couple of notable singer-songwriters and alarmingly eclectic composer – all of whom dance a line that could only be drawn along the vein of a 21st century consciousness – we’ve a couple of bands that know how to rock the house with the rest of them. Before this gets anymore deep, plug in your earbuds and make your reservations now…

VV Brown, Reni Lane, Love Grenades: Concert Review and Photos

vv2 VV Brown, Reni Lane, Love Grenades: Concert Review and Photos

Last Friday, Arjanwrites hosted a “Superfraiche” lineup complete with Scott Simons, Love Grenades, Reni Lane and the lovely Brit, VV Brown. It was definitely a change of atmosphere for those of us who usually attend Spaceland for the local indie rock shows. Going out to “dance music” shows definitely has its benefits though. Unlike the the “indie rock” scene, attendees aren’t afraid to dance. The sound booth isn’t ashamed to be playing a DJ set with songs from Lady Gaga, Annie, Kylie Minogue, and La Roux either.

The host was a great emcee with his bright red jacket and although Simons kicked the event off we were able to catch LA local hottie, Love Grenades along with Reni Lane and VV Brown.

Sunset Junction 2009 Review: Day 2

Sunset Junction Review Day 2 Sunset Junction 2009 Review: Day 2

Sunset Junction continued for Day 2 on a pleasant Sunday afternoon. It was still hot but my comfort level was much higher than it was during the previous day. The sun was just hot enough and it set just at the right time providing the perfect breeze for acts such as Fool’s Gold, The Sonics, and Built To Spill.

The ticket booth was all ready to go and going through the media guest list was as easy as pie yesterday. My photographer and I walked in just in time to see Love Grenades kick the festival off.

Check it all out in our recap of Day 2! Of course, we have more live photo galleries for you as well!

EP Review: Love Grenades, “Tigers in the Fire”

love grenades via myspace EP Review: Love Grenades, Tigers in the Fire

Love GrenadesTigers in the Fire is an audible precursor to a summertime spent in the car en route to the club, the beach, or perhaps even to and from work. Its consistent balance of italo disco and Top 40 pop-goodness is an easy draw-in for all sorts of listeners, but especially those who just want to dance.

BeatCrave Fav: Love Grenades

lovegrenades09 01 04 BeatCrave Fav: Love Grenades

How is this woman not absolutely everywhere? Her voice is soulful and rich, and she is looks like a healthy, gorgeous Amy Winehouse. I mean really I think the main reason she’s on this list is because she’s meant to be an icon. She’s the next Gwen Stefani, Betty Davis, Blondie, all mixed into one. There is no doubt that some point, possibly in the near future, she will be huge. Love Grenades have a catchy sound, an amazing look, and tons of appeal. If the music industry was still somewhat functioning I would say, look for them on billboards soon, but that’s a little more tricky now-a-days.

Check out more on Love Grenades below and vote for them this Friday in our BeatCrave Fav Poll…
