Hard NYC will be taking place from 9 AM to 2 AM on Saturday October 10th, 2009 at New York’s legendary TERMINAL 5. Tickets are currently on sale at Ticketmaster right now, but hurry! These will run out fast!

MTV VMA Breakthrough Video Nominees

 MTV VMA Breakthrough Video NomineesThe MTV Video Music Awards released their nominees for Best Breakthrough Video earlier this week. Just like we were impressed with MTV’s Top Albums of 2009 list, we are amazed at how much depth this nominee list has.

The Breakthrough Video category have been absent from the awards show on and off for the past few years, but we’re excited to see it’s back. We’re especially elated that many of the video nominees feature a handful of indie artists! Artist videos include Bat for Lashes, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Matt and Kim, Death Cab for Cutie and more. Now we know that the video filmmakers/directors get to take this award home, but we can’t help but think it’s rad that they’ve worked with some of our favorite artists.

Greetings BeatCrave readers! There always is some band working on a new album or finally releasing some new stuff. It can be overwhelming trying to stay up-to-date. That is why we are here; to make your life a little easier. Here are a few stories about some new artists and albums. Enjoy!

  • Assembly of Dust is releasing a new album on July 21, but that it not the fun bit of news. They are kind enough to be giving away seven of the thirteen songs from the new album, Some Assembly Required. Beginning June 2, one song will be offered as a free download, for a limited time, each week until the release date. Go to their website and download those songs. [Glide Mag]
  • Huw Stephens is putting together a compilation CD, Music Sounds Better With Huw: Volume 1, that is to be sold exclusively on iTunes. Many of the songs on the 21-track album are exclusive to this CD. Gold Teeth, Gold Panda, Dinosaur Pile-up and Swanton Bombs are featured. [Strange Glue]
