We welcome you to scroll through our recommended method of recovery from strenuous activities (read: yesterday’s April Fools Day shenanigans) – music therapy. The following bands work a range of tempo, genre, and multiple influence that is probably as varied as the range of temperament that accompanies the average Joe throughout the week, if not in a much more amicable sense. Check them out below:

The solo project of Manchester Orchestra‘s lead guitarist Robert McDowell serves as much as a fair example of a rock production as it does a message on self-propulsion. Gobotron – the professional pet name of sorts assumed by McDowell during this extension of his talents – gives us less of an alternate identity and more of an indirect tidbit of advice. The outcome is not certain, and is therefore further symbolized by the album’s title – On Your Mark, Get Set…. Do we win? Do we trip yet still cross the finish line? Well, if we don’t go, we’ll never know, will we?

Brand New blessed the Hollywood Palladium with two shows this past weekend; I was able to get a piece of the action on Sunday Oct. 18. Being at a Brand New show felt a lot like being in a crowd at a main stage at a music festival because of the insane amount of jumping, pushing, and shoving — however it was welcomed by audiences, and only added to the band’s overall performance.

I just spotted Manchester Orchestra‘s new video for “My Friend Marcus” and thought you might want to check it out. I love the old school footage mixed with the new wave sound, although this is not there best song.
It was premiered on Altpress.com but you can watch it below now….

I was introduced to Manchester Orchestra in a very odd way… A few years ago I managed to score tickets to a sold out Brand New show in Hollywood. I was apathetic towards all the opening bands, so I took a nap in the balcony area. It wasn’t before long that I just couldn’t deny what I was hearing from the stage. Manchester Orchestra was opening, and although I had heard the name here and there, I never gave them a chance. Not even one Myspace listen. Within a song or two, I woke from my slumbering state and went downstairs to see what all the fuss was about. To say the least, I got a wake up call to some good tunes.
