diplo1 Diplos Mad Decent Partners with Downtown Records

Indie label Mad Decent, created by Philadelphia-based DJ and producer Diplo, has made a partnership deal with another indie, Downtown Records.

Home to artists such as Bonde do Role, Brick Bandits, and DJ Blaqstarr, Mad Decent will join acts like Gnarls Barkley, Justice, Eagles of Death Metal and Santigold at Downtown, which already partners with A-Trak and Kid Sister’s Fool’s Gold Records. Dance music seems to be congregating under the same banner.

M.I.A. Insists: My Babys Name Is NOT Ickitt!

M.I.A. is furious and it’s funny that we find this all out through her MySpace. After numerous media reports claiming she had named her newborn son, “Ickitt,” she posted a letter through her MySpace page stating she didn’t release the baby’s name because she didn’t think it mattered. We get it. M.I.A. likes her privacy just as any other human being does. However, after debunking the rumors she went on to encourage people to think about other celebrity baby names… which somehow turned into bullying!

Check out her full letter below!

 MIA: My Baby Is Here!

Ambitious M.I.A. was cutting it close on that Grammys Sunday! Apparently, she was going to go out and party with everyone afterwards (no surprise there), but changed her mind at the last minute. Well, it’s a good thing she did because she went into labor at 2 AM that night! She gave birth to a boy on Wednesday and sounds pretty psyched to be a new mommy.

Read about it in her own charming words below! (She even included a disturbing “Preggo Shuffle” video.)

Grammys Round-Up: Performance Highlights

 Grammys Round Up: Performance Highlights

Last night, The Grammys did what they do best: Cram 24 performances into one night between all the awards. Award highlights go out to Coldplay for best rock album (no surprise there), Robert Plant and Alison Krauss for record of the year, and Lil Wayne taking the grammy for best rap album.

The performances ranged from painful (Kid Rock) to ridiculous (Katy Perry). Yet, there was a glimpse of actual entertainment when M.I.A. came out with the “Rap Pack” (Kanye, T.I., Jay-Z, Lil Wayne) in an outfit that not only accentuated her nine months pregnant belly, but also saved whoever’s ass came up with the “Rap Pack” idea. However, the bonus performance for everyone was Radiohead’s spectacular show of “15 Step” complete with the USC marching band fully backing Yorke.

Check out the performances from Radiohead, Kanye, Coldplay, and more after the jump!

M.I.A. To Perform At Grammys On Her Due Date

M.I.A. To Perform At Grammys On Her Due Date

As if it weren’t enough for M.I.A. to be the new idol for new-born hipsters everywhere, remixed by every other DJ, or featured in every other song (including the Oscar nominated Slumdog Millionaire song, “O Saya“), it’s been announced that she has been added onto the roster of artist performing at the Grammys tomorrow night.

The fact that she is performing at the Grammys isn’t a surprise (Radiohead, out of all artists has agreed to perform for the show). It’s the fact that she is NINE MONTHS PREGGERS, y’all. OH, also maybe because it’s her due date tomorrow? The girl may love performing but damn, doesn’t she care about taking care of that bun in her oven?

Now, we have no choice but to watch the overrated awards show. It may be the grossest performance ever.

slumdogmillionaire08 12 08 DOWNLOAD/MP3: MIA and A.R. Rahmans Track from Slumdog Millionaire

Slumdog Millionaire is one of the best movies of the year and one of the reasons why, is because of it’s radical music choices. Instead of going with the more “traditional” score, Danny Boyle wanted his film to represent the culture that it was showing, which meant he had to go big, bold, colorful, he had to go Bollywood. He found exactly what he needed in MIA and A.R. Rahman’s amazing track “O Soya”. Check it out below…
