You’ve got to hand it to the Rolling Stones—for a band of guys who are all past retirement age, and who have been in the same band for 50 years, they’ve got a hell of a lot of energy (maybe it was all the dollar signs generated from ticket sales that kept ‘em going), as the band played a 23-song, two and a half hour 50th anniversary set this weekend in London’s O2 Arena.

Earlier this week, we noted that the Greatest Rock N Roll Band in the World, the Rolling Stones, were hitting the studio to work on new material, and we speculated that a new album or tour may be to come to celebrate the band’s 50th Anniversary. Well, Billboard is claiming that a source has leaked to the that the Rolling Stones will indeed play four dates in November—two in London and two in New York.

Fans of over the hill rockers, or just rock ‘n roll in general, have reason to (probably) rejoice today—the Rolling Stones are recording new material. This is great because, hey, it’s the Stones; possibly not so great because, hey, it’s the Stones in 2012. Either way, it appears the band was recording new material in Paris last week. Last year, we reported to you that the Rolling Stones were holding secret meetings to discuss a possible 50th anniversary tour and album for 2012. Then…nothing. Things on the Rolling Stones front have been relatively silent of late, with the exception of the odd Jagger appearance here or there. In a surprise move, Rolling Stones frontman Mick Jagger is set to host and act as the musical guest on the May 19th season finale of Saturday Night Live. Why shocking? Is this the first salvo of unannounced Stones promo performances?

Hey, as long as this keeps him from making any more crappy solo albums or subpar late-period Rolling Stones albums, I’m all for it: turns out that Mick Jagger, Rolling Stones frontman and all around rock ‘n roll badass (and excellent chicken dancer), is a Facebook junkie.

Wow. I mean… wow. If ever there was an embarrassingly horrible—just plain horrible—tribute to a legend, this has to be it… Ok, deep breath, keep writing, explain yourself… So it appears that Maroon 5 and Christina Aguilera have laid down a tribute video to Mick Jagger, frontman of the Rolling Stones. And, unsurprisingly, it really, really sucks.

So long as you choose not to look too long at his face, you may very well suspect that Mick Jagger has found the Fountain of Youth. Sure, he’s one of those rock stars whose had to make a living singing his old songs (because most “new” ones just can’t compare), but to his credit, he performs them with enough pure energy to make them sound fresh every time. Now, with the future of The Rolling Stones still unclear, Spinner is reporting that the legendary rocker isn’t about to take a rest. Word is he’s got a new solo album in the works.
