In a move sure to make every U.S. citizen say—nay, the world—recoil in horror, “singer” and “actress” Miley Cyrus announced her next film/ soundtrack project today. The 17-year-old’s father, country singer and mullet enthusiast Billy Ray Cyrus, has penned a script reportedly being shopped to (an apparently very interested) Fox Searchlight. The film will take on familiar territory and cause Cyrus to take on Sonic Youth!

AP is reporting that the concert website Pollstar has updated its weekly report of the Top 20 highest-grossing concert acts in North America in 2010 and… oh, it’s bad.  Maybe not entirely unexpected, but still – 2009’s top 20 list at least had U2 and Bruce Springsteen at its #1 and #2 spots before being padded out by Britney Spears, The Jonas Brothers, Dave Matthews Band and Nickelback.  But 2010, on the other hand? Oh my…

Hot on the heels of prefiguring the End of All Things by collaborating with Poison’s Bret Michaels on a cover of “Every Rose Has Its Thorn,” teen queen and all-around sonic abomination Miley Cyrus told Teen Vogue that she’ll be taking a break from music after the release of her currently untitled next album later this year. Following the news, suicide hotlines noted a 50% decrease in callers, while Israel and Hamas signed historic peace accords.

In his seminal 1882 philosophical work, The Gay Science, Friedrich Nietzsche declared “Gott ist tot,” which translated from German states, “God is dead.”  In 2010, Poison frontman/ no-this-isn’t-male-pattern-baldness-I-just-really-like-bandannas-and-cowboy-hats aficionado Bret Michaels and Miley Cyrus are teaming up to both prove and cement Nietzsche’s claim with a series of duets on their upcoming albums.

Miley Cyrus Grammy Nod Disqualified Karen O Next In Line Miley Cyrus Grammy Nod Disqualified, Karen O Next In Line

Miley Cyrus may be on top of the world right now but she can’t always have everything. When the Grammy nominations were revealed, Cyrus received a nod for her song “The Climb” which was released as a single for the Hannah Montana film. However, it was recently revoked when the panel discovered the song was not originally written for the film.

So who’s next in line for the Grammy nomination? Yeah Yeah YeahsKaren O for her work on Where The Wild Things Are soundtrack, and we can’t help but gloat a little bit. It’s about time the indie world has another prevalent presence at the Grammys. The winning speech from The Swell Season‘s Marketa Irgolva at the Oscars two years ago warmed out little indie hearts, and we’re hoping Karen O and The Kids will be able to do the same for the Grammys.

Miley Cyrus Remakes Poisons Every Rose Has Its Thorn Miley Cyrus Remakes Poisons Every Rose Has Its Thorn

Miley Cyrus has decided to cover Poison’s “Every Rose Has It’s Thorn.” Cue up the movie 2012 because the world must be close to blowing the hell up. Most artists do end up covering somebody at some point, and lots of times the result is better than the original, but no way can this be a good idea.

Miley should be made to appear on VH-1′s “Rock Of Love” with Poison’s Brett Michaels in order to cover his ’80s rock ballad. People reports Michaels was with Cyrus in NYC for the recording session, and might have even played guitar on the Tween-ed up version, so clearly he’s down with the whole Hannah Montana-meets-Glam Rock thing.

Yet another ticketing scandal. In 2007, mileyworld.com, Miley Cyrus’ fan website, advertised that people who joined the site as members would be given a special chance to buy pre-sale tickets for the two Hannah Montana shows in the state of Pennsylvania that were part of Cyrus’ tour. The problem was not that the site didn’t hold tickets for pre-sale, but that it continued to advertise the special deal after all pre-sale tickets had already been sold. 966 people joined the club after the tickets were gone, each paying a $29.95 yearly membership fee for the privilege. The company that runs mileyworld.com, Nashville’s Interactive Media Marketing, Inc., has settled the case that the Pennsylvania state attorney general brought against it, but is admitting no wrongdoing. Instead, it will pay $20,000 to the state and give everyone it duped a free four-month membership extension. It also will have to have a message on its site saying that membership does not guarantee tickets. A national lawsuit against the company had already resulted in 2 months free, so Pennsylvanians will get 6.

Jonas Brothers Movie Disappointing Disney

Tuesday, March 3, 2009 8:45AM - By

800px the jonas brothers perform at the kids inaugural cropped Jonas Brothers Movie Disappointing DisneyThe Jonas Brothers’ movie was released this past weekend. It’s was supposed to be one of the top movies of the year, starring the hottest thing around, the Jonas Brothers. I mean, come on! They played at the White House! And the movie is in 3-D!

The movie is of a concert the Jonas brothers played last year. Unfortunately for Disney, the opening box office was only $12.7 million, one-third of what the company expected the movie to bring in over its first weekend. It didn’t even finish in first place at the box office, coming in second behind the second week of the instant classic, Tyler Perry’s (I’m not sure if Tyler Perry’s is part of the actual title, but I haven’t seen the rest of title written without Tyler Perry’s in front of it, so I’m assuming it is) Madea Goes to Jail. Disney denies that the Jonas Brothers movie is a disappointment, but it is doing much worse than their first such attempt to sucker parents out of the $10 they need to get a child into a movie theater, last year’s The Best of Both Worlds, a movie of a Miley Cyrus concert, which brought in $31.1 on its opening weekend. Best of Both Worlds did have an advantage in that it was billed as a one-week only release, but still, the Jonas Brothers movie cannot be considered a success.
