Over at NPR they’ve conducted an online poll of what listeners have chosen as the “Best Music of 2009 (so far).” This includes the top songs and albums to date, and the list consists of 30 titles for both categories. Black Eyed Peas fans can rest easy! The band’s new album titled “The E.N.D” does not signify the END of the group, it actually stands for “The Energy Never Dies”. Of all the artists, and yes there are a lot, coming out with an album this week, the most exciting is Mos Def’s new one. One of the most under-rated hip hop artists of our time, Mos Def is a true lyricist that has not succumbed to mainstream pressure and has stayed authentic even after all these years.

Indie label Mad Decent, created by Philadelphia-based DJ and producer Diplo, has made a partnership deal with another indie, Downtown Records.
Home to artists such as Bonde do Role, Brick Bandits, and DJ Blaqstarr, Mad Decent will join acts like Gnarls Barkley, Justice, Eagles of Death Metal and Santigold at Downtown, which already partners with A-Trak and Kid Sister’s Fool’s Gold Records. Dance music seems to be congregating under the same banner.
