The 2010 MTV Video Music Awards have come and gone and the winners have been announced. Eminem, Justin Bieber (shudder), and Lady Gaga all walked away with top honors. Gaga earned the biggest award of the night with Video of the Year for “Bad Romance,” while Bieber snatched the Best New Artist trophy (really?), and Eminem took home the Best Male Video award. See who else got lucky tonight….

Just like how the MTV Movie Awards are dominated by Twilight, the MTV Video Music Awards have become Lady Gaga’s bitch. The singer made history today with a record breaking 13 VMA nominations leaving her competition in the dust. Other notable nominees include Eminem, Drake, 30 Seconds to Mars, and yes Justin Beiber. Check out the full list of categories below…

Walking corpse Ozzy Osbourne recently spoke out about his three-year tenure on MTV’s The Osbournes, and the effect it had on his family, NME reports. Osbourne laments that the reality television program and the subsequent fame that hit his family was not healthy for the Ozz’s brood (and coming from a guy who once tried to choke his wife to death, that’s saying something).

In a bid to maintain pop relevance but without having to actually, you know, really have much to do with music television whatsoever, MTV has announced a new contest reminiscent of the old Wanna Be a VJ contests – the music (heh) network is now on the search for a new Twitter Jockey. A… (long sigh) TJ. Continue Reading

In a move that is easily 10 years overdue, MTV has tossed aside the “Music Television” from its logo. They really ought to dispose of the ‘M’ as well, because there is nothing remotely music related going on at the onetime center of the universe for music and television.
The new look was revealed on-air yesterday, featuring the original ‘M’ with the small, graffiti-style ‘TV’ on the right side.

You all know her as the loud-mouthed and pint-sized “Guidette,” Snookie, from MTV‘s Jersey shore. It turns out that she can be fantastic interviewer on the Grammys red carpet, too! (Also, by fantastic we mean hilarious.)
MTV put Snookie (aka Nicole Polizzi) out to interview bands and most likely without her knowing who any of the ones they’ve requested her to talk to, they got some entertaining footage. In the clip below, you’ll see Snookie ask Phoenix if there are “Guidos” in France and tell one of them they look like Twilight‘s Robert Pattinson, which is “good” according to the Jersey Shore star.

Vevo, the newest of music video streaming services, has successfully launched today with the help of numerous big-name labels and corporate sponsors. They even managed to convince EMI to join them on the eve of their launch. If EMI, one of the biggest labels out the there, saying yes to Vevo doesn’t tell you that this new streaming site is worth it, plenty of other music labels will tell you again.

***Update: We’ve just received official word from MTV, that under no circumstances did they build a ‘wall’ of any kind in or around the U2 production site. U2’s performance took place on Thursday, November 5th in front of the Brandenburg Gate, in Berlin, as a symbol of peace and reconciliation. They encourage fans to watch tonight’s show to see for themselves.***
It was great news for both U2 fans and those who wished to celebrate the fall of the Berlin Wall when the prominent band announced a free show to honor the 20th anniversary.
However, there’s been a slight addition to the location that have left eager concert-goers mad and confused. According to the Associated Press, a 12-foot metal barrier has been built that will block any view of U2′s show. A wall was built where a wall was taken down… Ironic, to say the least!
