This week we noticed a trend in upcoming music releases : many artists are revisiting old material and publishing their B-sides, whether its a lack of inspiration or an indefinite hiatus. Wah Do Dem, the independent feature film directed by Sam Fleischner and Ben Chace, has been on a successful streak since winning the Best Feature Film award at last year’s Los Angeles Film Festival. The film, starring musician Sean Bones and (briefly) Norah Jones, has made the rounds at various festivals and collected high praise and awards internationally.
The film is about when Max (Bones) gets dumped by his girlfriend (Jones) right before a Caribbean cruise he won and he decides to embark on a solo vacation to Jamaica (a bit cliched but lets roll with it for now). Once there, a series of mishaps and surprises send Max on the journey of a lifetime (yeap – by the book), as he ventures down the road of self-discovery and cultural differences (Who saw that one coming?! Sigh). Though at times the film seems to fall into typical plot twists, it is entertainingly pleasant as you find yourself falling in love with the characters he meets along the way (well there’s always that).
So why is this movie worth seeing?

Grammy Award winning artist Norah Jones recently teamed up with late night talk show host Jimmy Kimmel to celebrate the holidays. The duo performed a rendition of the “12 Days of Christmas” for his show and it was hilarious. Kimmel is known for his video parodies and the only difference with this one is its holiday theme.

Part promotion and part sign of things to come, EMI has debuted a Norah Jones channel on Hulu reports Billboard. It’s a move that shows the online video portal is looking to dip its toe into the music video waters.
With the deal, all of Jones’ videos will be posted on Hulu, plus concert footage and interviews. Jones’ new album, The Fall, was released this week, so the Norah Jones channel will serve to promote the new album as well. The deal will, down the road, add content from other artists on EMI’s labels including Virgin, Capitol and Blue Note.

Norah Jones has announced that she will release her fourth studio album in November.
That news alone might not be too exciting for some, but the fact that the singer-songwriter enlisted the help of Will Shef (Okkervil River) and Ryan Adams to co-write much of the music and also rounded up an all-star cast of musicians from Tom Waits’ 1999 Mule Variations album can only add an extra bit of excitement/interest to what looks to be a more indie, less jazzy Norah Jones this time around.
Indie rock producer Jacquire King (Kings of Leon, Modest Mouse, Tom Waits) also worked on the unnamed album.
“I got in touch with Jacquire initially because he engineered one of my favorite records of all time, Tom Waits’ Mule Variation,” Jones said in a statement. “He was really eager to do it and we got along really well, which was important.”
