Pavement Reviews, Interviews & More
Because apparently only when bands reunite to play shoddy and substandard new material that in no way lives up to the music of their heyday should be lauded, Billy Corgan took to Twitter yesterday to do what he does best (since the thing he used to do best—writing great rock and pop songs—has long since faded into the either): bitch about things. In this case, reformed ‘90s alt-rock...
Saying the economy is going through a rough time is an understatement with all the financial problems we have going on. Even with Live Nation Entertainment, the biggest corporation in booking big acts at high prices, suffering tours and festivals are still trying to do what they can with the little resource we have called money. So now that the Virgin Mobile FreeFest has...

It's always difficult to choose a headlining act for the biggest indie music festival in Chicago, possibly the US. How do you pick a band that is big enough to deserve a headlining spot over all the other acts yet not quite mainstream enough to make Lollapalooza? Easy, you get iconic indie rock band Pavement to...
Classic indie fans, 2010 may well be your year (well, ok, technically, 1992 is probably your year, but you know what I mean) . In addition to a blisteringly good Pavement reunion – seriously, catch their live show this year if you can – fans of ‘90s indie are now being treated to a full-fledged reunion tour of Guided By Voices’ classic lineup. Thank you, Universe, thank you – I...
GBV! GBV! Yes, you read that headline correct. Guided By Voices are reuniting and they're playing Matador's 21st birthday bash in Las Vegas on October 1- 3. One of the most charismatic indie rock bands from the 90s who knew how to throw down on stage when it came to performing (and drinking) is back after their abrupt end to their endless (but great) stream of releases. Now,...
Classic indie rock fans, hold thy collective breath—Stephen Malkmus (with his solo backing band, The Jicks) entered a recording studio with Beck earlier this year to record new music, according to Pitchfork. Let me run that by you again: Stephen Malkmus, Beck, recording together. Two artists who produced some of the best genre-bending rock...
Pitchfork reports today that noisemakers Sonic Youth have recorded the soundtrack to a new film, French director Fabrice Gobert’s Simon Werner a Disparu. The film, set in 1992, concerns the disappearance of several high school students, is set to screen at the Cannes Film Festival next month, and will bow with the English title Lights Out.
Ok, festival kids, the Coachella set times are now up, and the inevitable queasy feeling in your stomach can now begin as you decide which favorite acts you’ll be missing, or only catching a part of, in order to watch MGMT suck for 50 minutes (kidding, kidding—but not really, as MGMT really do suck, guys). Owing to a slightly more spread-out schedule than in recent years, with (for myself...
The countdown is on for the return of Pavement. And we're close, very close. The band kicks-off their reunion tour Monday in Auckland, New Zealand. To spice up the long-awaited reunion, guitarist Scott 'Spiral Stairs' Krannberg has been working his blog about the band's rehearsals in Portland, OR, posting photos and comments as the band jets off to the home of Flight of the...
Pitchfork Music Festival has announced their headliners for their annual event which takes place in Chicago's Union Park. Slated to occur on July 16 - 18, Pitchfork never fails to get some of the biggest names of the year. Pavement has added another date to their massive reunion tour by becoming a headliner on Sunday night while LCD Soundsystem...

The 23-track collection will be released March 8, available from Matador Records on double LP, CD and digital. It's almost here! In March, a Pavement compilation album will be released to kick off the new decade! Although it's not a greatest hits or a new album, we're glad Pavement is doing any type reunion at all and we can't say much about how they want to release an album during this brief but glorious time.
The compilation album is titled Quarantine of the Past: The Best of...

Guitar Hero finds a way to attach itself to every band or musician dead or alive. The latest group to fall prey to the video game juggernaut is Pavement. According to Consequence of Sound, when the updated version of the game is released this month music from the group will be ready and available for you to download.
Although indie rock legends, Pavement, has told everyone not to expect any new material from them despite their massive reunion tour schedule for 2010, there IS hope for a "Best Of" compilation to come our way.
Guitarist, Scott Kannberg, recently talked to NME about future Pavement releases and is considering throwing something together so our favorite...
The Pavement reunion is not going to stop until all the big cities have been hit!
The indie rock legends have just announced another tour date and according to our suspicion, we were right. This one goes toward the Brits. Pavement will be returning to Brixton Academy in London, UK on May 11th, 2010; this will mark their first performance at the location...
Pavement is everywhere with this reunion. In the blogosphere or around the world, it doesn't matter. We couldn't be happier.
After announcing their Summerstage dates for NYC and Pavement weekend at All Tomorrow's Parties 2010, they've decided to please their fans down under: According to Triple J, Pavement have added six...
Much like "Duck, duck, goose," it also goes the same way for speculations and confirmations: "Rumor, rumor, fact." We Internet geeks just eat this stuff up, so we want to throw another one at you.
As a side note to the unveiling of Stagecoach's full line-up featuring country artists such as Keith Urban, Sugarland, and The Avett Brothers, Billboard has also confirmed our hunch by stating...
We get a Pavement reunion in New York for 2010 but the UK has gotten them to curate the prestigious All Tomorrow's Parties Festival the same year! Although, they said they wouldn't be doing any "silly" like festivals, headlining and curating ATP in the country where it originated is a pretty big deal.
ATP is known as the festival of festivals in Britain for...
If you're a Pavement fan, or if you are just a BeatCrave fan (hopefully that's why you're here), then you know how excited we are for this Pavement reunion.
After last year's rumors were a bust, it was a dream come true for us when Pavement actually confirmed that they were indeed going on a reunion tour. The first four shows in NYC have already all sold...
