Gotta give Pearl Jam some credit; of all the bands in the so-called “grunge” movement, they’ve had the most success in terms of sticking around and consistently making good music. So, we’re happy that Rolling Stone is reporting that the band is set to record their tenth studio album this year.

Pearl Jam‘s Mike McCready is developing a good habit, one that every good musician should try at some point in their career, and that’s writing scores. A few months ago the producers of Fox’s sci-fi show Fringe contacted Pearl Jam in the attempt to get permission to use the song “Just Breathe.” What they got instead was for the lead guitarist to compose a score for the entire episode.

According to Billboard, it turns out that even Pearl Jam has joined the ever-growing army of Team Conan. Last night in Seattle, members of the Seattle jumped onstage to offer tribute to their favorite ginger late night television host, dedicating three tunes to Conan O’Brien. Frontman Eddie Vedder played two songs solo—“Rise,” from his Into The Wild solo work in 2007, and a cover of John Lennon’s “Oh Yoko” goofily recast as “Oh Coco” for the hometown audience. Vedder was then joined onstage by Mike McCready for a horn-laden cover of the Who’s “Baba O’Riley.”
