Well that kinda sucks. When Genesis finally get their well-deserved induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame next month, founding member Peter Gabriel won’t be there. Rock and Roll Hall of Fame president Joel Peresman said in a statement that Gabriel says he has a scheduling conflict with his tour that kicks-off in Paris next month.

Dave Matthews Band, Peter Gabriel, Slash, Lupe Fiasco and more have generously donated some of their new or unreleased material so that more funds can go toward Haiti relief. In a compilation titled, Download to Donate for Haiti, the Music For Relief organization have teamed up with United Nations Foundation, Habitat for Humanity, Dave Matthews Band’s BAMA Works to offer music in exchange for donations.
Music For Relief was founded by the band, Linkin Park, and is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing aid victims of natural disasters and the prevention of such disasters. More info on how you can download and donate for those whose lives have been shattered below.

Peter Gabriel has that creative itch to cover other people’s music – the ‘others’ in this case include indie bands and some legendary artists. Gabriel is going to scratch that musical itch with the appropriately titled Scratch My Back, a 12-track orchestral covers album due January 25.
Among the songs covered on Scratch My Back, according to NME, are Radiohead’s “Street Spirit,” Elbow’s “Mirrorball” and Regina Spektor’s “Apres Moi’.” Scratch My Back could morph into a double-album, part of a possible ‘song swap,’ where a handful of artists will also cover Gabriel’s music. That part of the equation is not confirmed.

BOYB! …as in “B-Y-O-Boombox!” That’s what Maryland-based five-piece rock group, Lloyd Dobler Effect, said yesterday as they celebrated the movie that gave them their name.
Although, their rock music (with Latin beats inserted from time to time) sound far from anything Peter Gabriel is known for, Lloyd Dobler Effect’s band members and friends took over the Big Apple yesterday as they celebrated and promoted the 20th anniversary of the film, Say Anything.

The company has signed up to provide Belgian online DVD home rental service DVDPost with its own movie recommendation widget.
Developed by physicist Martin Hopkins using Bayesian mathematics, The Filter is powered by an engine that provides a holistic approach to recommendations – filtering out irrelevant content and only filtering in content that reflects an individual’s tastes and moods through unique algorithms.
