Expect a heavy dose of purple with the next issue of Spin magazine.
To celebrate the 25th anniversary of Prince’s iconic Purple Rain, the music monthly has put together a 10-page, comprehensive oral history of the film and album – plus a free, downloadable tribute album that features nine bands doing song-for-song covers of the record’s famous tracks.

- Brighten the Corners: Nicene Creedence Edition – Pavement: Although it is a remastered re-release (released Dec. 9), Pavement’s new edition of 1997′s Brighten the Corners features a 24-song second disc of B-sides and rarities that some candid moments in the band’s career. Recommended tracks: “Harness Your Hopes” and “Stereo.”

The singer claims to have already completed two solo albums “MPLSOUND” and “Lotus Flower” as well as an album with Bria Valente called “Elixir.”
According to the LA Times Prince will be releasing all three albums independently rather than working with a particular label, and is currently in negotiations with a US retailer to distribute the discs. The Times reported:
