ab030309prince Prince To Release 3 CD Set... Exclusively at Target?

Prince is sticking to his guns when it comes to not releasing his upcoming album through a major label, but that doesn’t mean he’s averse to letting corporate America help him do it. Beginning March 29th, a three disc set which includes two albums of new material (Lotusflow3er and MPLSound) and an album none of us would have spent money on otherwise (Elixir, the debut album from protégé Bria Valente) will be available exclusively at Target department stores for $11.99.  It’s a strange move, but damn if that isn’t a recession friendly price.

prince Prince To Release Three Albums in 2009
Prince has huge aspirations for 2009, planning to release not one, not two, but THREE new albums over the course of the year (and lord knows the world needs three new Prince albums). The singer claims to have already completed two solo albums “MPLSOUND” and “Lotus Flower” as well as an album with Bria Valente called “Elixir.”

According to the LA Times Prince will be releasing all three albums independently rather than working with a particular label, and is currently in negotiations with a US retailer to distribute the discs. The Times reported:
