Once again, we urge you to embrace the life of a night-dweller this summer. There’s much comfort in knowing that no matter how hellishly hot or humid it gets this year, there will always be the night. And,as long as we’re doing the searching, there will always be a good show for you to indulge in after a long week. It’s time to play! Check out our picks for the weekend below:
Because of the popularity of the Red CortezGarden Party and in celebration of their upcoming tour with the Minister of Mope himself, Morrissey, for this month’s Garden Party we decided to share a few more moments from the evening’s festivities on that special night in August.
We present 3 songs (2 more after the jump…you’ll want to check out!). Each holds a distinguishing characteristic of the immense talent that is “Red Cortez”.
“Neal Cassady” is a classic for these guys that usually converts most skeptics into true fans of the band with one listen. Check it out above if you haven’t already.
Red Cortez has just posted a video for the previously unreleased song “End Of An Error” on their website. The song was featured by Red Cortez’ in recent sets opening for Little Joy. You can download the song for free here.
Below is their video for “End of An Error,” Directed by Leah McKissock with cinematography by H. Scott Roth. The video is a puppet show featuring handmade dolls of the band members interspersed with live footage of Red Cortez performing. It’s a fun little ride, with some good music to boot.
Heads up everyone! BeatCrave is throwing another Garden Party and we’re giving away tickets to our lovely readers. The band EXITMUSICwill be kind enough to grace our lawn of choice on December 13th in Los Angeles. We will announce the start of the give-away with the location on Monday, November 24th.
Check out our Red Cortez(formerly known as The Weather Underground) Garden Party next Monday!
That’s right, our next Garden Party will no longer be with The Weather Underground, but with the newly named band Red Cortez. Because of various reasons the band decided they needed a little change. One of which, is with the departure of guitarist Shoichi Bagley who decided to leave the band for pursuits outside music. The band decided that it was time to start a new. Calvin J. Love, a native of Edmonton, Canada, replaced Bagley on lead guitar and with the new line-up came a new name!
As frontman Harley Prechtel-Cortez explains it, “we decided we need to keep the focus on the music and didn’t want to share our identity with anyone or anything else.”
The newish band will be touring in Los Angeles and featured in our upcoming Garden Party which will premiere on November 17th on BeatCrave.
