A few days ago, a Lollapalooza (a.k.a. Coachella of the East Coast) lineup leaked. We questioned the authenticity of it, but as it turns out, it was the real thing. Headliners consist of Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Black Keys, and Black Sabbath. It all takes place at the Chicago Grant Park on August 3 – 5. Check out the complete lineup below.

The ceremony won’t be held until April 14th at Cleveland’s Public Hall, but we already know who will be included into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame this time around, and they include long-time favorites Red Hot Chili Peppers, the allegedly unignorable Guns N’ Roses, and, least “rock” of them all, The Beastie Boys. While they’ve been brainstorming since late last year, Spin reports that the Red Hot Chili Peppers have only just begun to prep for the recording of their upcoming tenth album. While the album’s central theme has yet to be announced, one assumes it will deal with the pathos, tragedy, and sublime human experiences inherent in the universal… ok, let’s face it, it’ll be about sex and California.

While the technology to create a playable crotch-sock controller is still at least a decade off (although developers are making huge leaps and we should have playable heroin and supermodel arm candy by 2014), it looks like California kids the Red Hot Chili Peppers will be getting their very own Guitar Hero game, according to Spinner. Guitar Hero makers Activision are currently polling gamers and music fans as to whether they’d enjoy a game based on the music of the long-running rock ‘n funk act.

Long time, Chili Peppers member, John Frusciante has officially resigned from Red Hot Chili Peppers. To put all the rumors to rest, Frusciante himself wrote on his blog that he would be leaving the band. Frusciante seemed to be having issue with the group for some time, so this should come as no big surprise. Apparently “There was no drama or anger involved, and the other guys were very understanding.” He simply no longer feels inspired by the direction of the band is taking, and feels his future lies in other musical ventures.
The group seems to be wasting no time finding a replacement for Frusciante. Current band member, Josh Klinghoffer, who has toured with the group in the past and played with Frusciante on his solo albums, is still rumored to be the replacement for the group.
Here is what Frusciante had to say about leaving…
