Ringo Starr Just Wants to Be Left Alone

Ringo Starr issued a statement on his website today telling fans to quit sending him fan mail on October 20. Starr, now 68, says that he has too much to do and will throw away any mail he receives from fans that is postmarked after October 20.
Ringo, who, unlike the other living Beatle, doesn’t seem like he is intentionally recording bad music knowing that it will sell just because of his name and glorying in the stupidity of the people who buy it and worship him, seems like he may have lost it a bit. It’s not like he is personally answering all of the letters anyway and could easily have just cut back on the amount of work he personally does with the fan mail. He has recorded just 12 albums in the last 38 years and doesn’t have a whole lot of other notable achievements. Maybe he is just going to become a recluse, which would at least make for a good story.
