For a punk rock band that’s been in the scene since 1997, it’s certainly surprising to hear that Riverboat Gamblers have not broken into mainstream yet. These underground legends from Austin, Texas began garnering attention with their show at SXSW a few years ago, and have even had a stint on Warped Tour. They initially signed to indie label Gearhead Records and ultimately signed to their current label, Volcom Entertainment, in 2005.
Riverboat Gamblers have been on soundtracks for Tony Hawk’s American Wasteland, Madden 07, and Skate 2. They were most recently featured on a cover album produced and distributed (for free!) by Spin Magazine for the 25th anniversary of Prince’s Purple Rain album. What’s not to like?
Check Riverboat Gamblers out below in our BeatCrave Fav series and if you like their sound as much as we do, vote for them in Friday’s poll!
