Weezer Returns To The Stage Work On Shrek Song Weezer Returns To The Stage, Work On Shrek Song

It’s been a whirlwind of year for Weezer. They’ve been pretty successeful with all their crazy ideas such as naming their album Raditude, using a flying dog on the cover art, not only endorsing but making their own Snuggie, rocking out as giant bugs for Yo Gabba Gabba! and more. However, the end of the year took an unfortunate turn when Weezer’s front man, Rivers Cuomo, was injured in a severe bus accident while they were out on tour.

Although Cuomo was released from the hospital shortly after, doctors told him he needed more time to recover before he hit the stage again. The rest of the year end’s tour dates were canceled. However, Weezer is all set to go back on the road now. That’s not all they’re up to either.

Weezers Rivers Cuomo Discharged From Hospital Weezers Rivers Cuomo Discharged From Hospital

After spending nearly a week in the hospital after last weekend’s bus accident, Weezer‘s front man, Rivers Cuomo, was finally released from the hospital and is on his way back home. He looks pretty good based on this photo above from Weezer’s blog, and we’re happy to know that he’s okay and able to continue performing and working for the band’s upcoming west coast dates.

Unfortunately, since the accident happened in New York, Cuomo has to travel across the country to his home which is Los Angeles. So getting on a bus again may seem a bit intimidating for anyone who has gone through what he has just experienced. However, the band says that things should be great on the way back.

Word spread quickly Sunday that Weezer frontman Rivers Cuomo was taken to the hospital after his tour bus skidded off the road in New York early that morning. Both Cuomo and a band assistant were injured when their tour bus fell 10 feet into a muddy ravine about 40 miles west of Albany, New York.

In the aftermath, the band are praising their tour bus driver, who’s driving skill helped reduce the damage in what could have been a much worse accident Sunday morning.

Sigh, Weezer. What’s going on?

With all the shenanigans they’ve been throwing at us like naming their album Raditude, using a flying dog as the cover art, and offering up a free Wuggie, this one goes down in the books.

In an interview with Buzznet (via P4k), Rivers Cuomo has let the word slip in regards to a partnership with none other than the real-life-”Look at me!”-barbie doll, Katy Perry.

Who would have that that Weezer frontman Rivers Cuomo would be a huge fan of the game soccer (or football depending on where your’e from)? Until I heard his soccer-themed “Lover in the Snow” video, where he says that he took his first step “trying to kick a soccer ball,” I would have thought that Cuomo would have shied away from any contact sports. Guess I was wrong.

Last year Cuomo even scored the first goal for his team at the Mia Hamm and Nomar Garciaparra Celebrity Soccer Challenge and this year he is set to return to once again strut his soccer stuff at this years annual charity event on January 17 at the Home Depot Center in Carson, Calif.

rivers Rivers Cuomo Performs For Decomposed

Weezer frontman Rivers Cuomo recently recorded an episode of Decomposed for Stereogum. In the session he performed three songs along with some help from a pianist, Sonia, he hand-selected for the event, flutist Greg Vail, Jermaine Dupri, an a capella ground from Dartmouth college, and five acoustic guitarists and three percussionists he picked up from the bands Crash Kings, Alkaline Trio, Yellowcard, Melee, Reeve Oliver and Ozma.

The result is nothing short of fantastic. Check it out in all it’s glory after the break:

riverscuomo Rivers Cuomo to Release Second Demos Record

For reasons unknown to me, Weezer frontman Rivers Cuomo is releasing a second collection of demos and home recordings on November 25 titled Alone II: The Home Recordings of Rivers Cuomo.

The new collection comes a little less than a year after the release of Alone I which in my opinion could have stayed in the archives. Alone II will mark the third release for Rivers in the last year, including Alone I and Weezer’s “Red Album.”

Listen to the first track from Alone II and check out the track list after the break.
