Saturday night at The Roxy. Despite the evening’s theme being the Black and White show, it was by far a most colorful event. Quite simply, if you weren’t there, you should have been. Shall we elaborate?
Saint Motel by no means is new to the live music scene, a fact made obvious by their confident yet gracious stage presence and a general suave work-the-room-ability. Their first performance at The Roxy ended up being pretty much anything a concert-goer could want and more. With performances by preceding acts Army Navy, Red Arrow Messenger, and Rumspringa, the curtains lifted to the band in an introduction to their hour-long or so set – which, by the looks of the crowd, was not going to be long enough.

These guys are really making their rounds; they recently had a month-long residency at Spaceland in Silverlake and played at CMJ. If you live around LA and have not made it out to one of their shows, fear not, we have teamed up with KROQ Locals Only to help present the wonderfulness that is Saint Motel this weekend. They will be joined by the equally great Rumspringa, Red Arrow Messenger (formerly The Cheat), and Army Navy. It’s finally here! It’s the week of CMJ Festival 2009 in NYC and it all starts tomorrow. The Big Apple will literally be bursting with more noise than usual from October 20 and through October 24. If you’re going to be in the area, make sure you do your last minute registration. You have until 6:00pm tomorrow.
After that, passes will be available onsite at the Judson Memorial Church which is located at 55 Washington Square South, between Thompson and Sullivan Streets.

BeatCrave is excited to bring you band, Saint Motel, as part of our Know Your LA Bands series. It’s not too often that you meet a band at a Thai restaurant, hear one of the band members speak fluent Thai, then have another band member tell you they’re honorary Thai guests. That or have one of their moms come in only to exclaim, “I have the fake blood!”
With Saint Motel, everything is extravagant but it’s all done in a very homemade way. This is another way to say that Saint Motel is one very hard working band who knows how to engage fans, look professional, yet also just be who simply they are: Four normal guys who met in film school and decided to start a band that would eventually rock the hell out of LA. If you haven’t been to one of their shows, that needs to be added on to your “To-Do” lists, because it’s music fully enhanced. They make sure of it.
We got the chance to chat with Saint Motel about everything serious, silly, and anything in between. Check out this exclusive interview with the entire band and learn what they think about illegal downloading, how they changed digital purchasing, and well… their possible careers as match-makers!
BeatCrave and KROQ Locals Only present Saint Motel, Saturday – November 7th, at The Roxy in West Hollywood. After having a successful Spaceland residency only to go on tour across the nation for the most part of October (they’ll also be hitting up CMJ), Saint Motel will be returning to Los Angeles and headlining The Roxy on Sunset Boulevard.
The show is dubbed The Black and White Show and the line-up includes Rumspringa and Red Arrow Messenger. Tickets are only $10 if you get them in advance, and that should be easy since it’s a month away. Mark your calendars and come party with all of us!
