If you’ve picked up a copy of Paste’s Great Expectations issue, you might have noticed Santigold linking arms with Vampire Weekend’s Ezra Koenig. What’s more interesting about Santigold in the feature article (even more interesting than changing her name from Santogold to Santigold) is the fact she shares her reactions to people who always assume she does only R&B or Gospel genres because she’s a woman of color. However, she proves she is capable of more than mere assumptions by doing production for big names – big names like Devo.

Bonnaroo 2009 has some of the biggest names in music at the head of its lineup this year, including the reunited Phish, Beastie Boys, Wilco, Snoop Dogg, Nine Inch Nails, Grizzly Bear, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, The Mars Volta, Animal Collective, Femi Kuti and Bruce Springsteen.
“If there was such a thing as a recession-proof lineup this year, this had to be it,” said Ashley Capps, the co-founder of Bonnaroo and president of AC Entertainment.
Enticing fans to pay $250 to $300 for tickets to the festival is no easy task, and its producers have definitely played it safe, with over 100 must-see bands spread out across six stages.

Indie label Mad Decent, created by Philadelphia-based DJ and producer Diplo, has made a partnership deal with another indie, Downtown Records.
Home to artists such as Bonde do Role, Brick Bandits, and DJ Blaqstarr, Mad Decent will join acts like Gnarls Barkley, Justice, Eagles of Death Metal and Santigold at Downtown, which already partners with A-Trak and Kid Sister’s Fool’s Gold Records. Dance music seems to be congregating under the same banner.
