Concert Picks: School of Seven Bells, Neko Case, Tragically Hip…
Friday, June 12, 2009 9:00AM - By Lindsey Darden
Looking for a good show to see? Check our picks for this weekend below…
- School of Seven Bells | Friday, June 12 | 8:00 pm | 18+ | $15 | Bowery Ballroom, New York, NY – Map | We love bands who refer to themselves as acronyms. Also known as SVIIB, the ethereal-sounding Brooklyn-based band’s debut album Alpinisms is ripe for listener interpretation. Twin sisters and vocalists Alejandra and Claudia Deheza (formerly from On! Air! Library!) and Benjamin Curtis (from Secret Library) will get their electro-shoegaze on with Violens and Apache Beat. Click here for tickets.
- Neko Case | Friday, June 12 | 7:30 pm | $30-$35 | Greek Theater, Los Angeles, CA – Map | This is country music? Not that I don’t like country music; there is much appeal in the general twang, but Neko Case – songwriter and vocalist of the New Pornographers – approaches the genre in a way that is all-inclusive, edgy, and outspoken. She is to be joined with musical guest Jason Lytle of Grandaddy. Click here for tickets.
