Coldplay, Kelly Clarkson, and Gym Class Heroes aren’t the only ones releasing new albums this week. We’ve rounded up new releases from Brandon Schott, Alexandra Stan, She & Him, Jedi Mind Tricks, and Justice. Some we love; some, not so much. Clarkson’s album should meet positive reviews–the former Idol has been a part of the mainstream for a decade, and she never fails to give us a solid performance. But if the self-proclaimed “schizophrenia” of Coldplay’s Mylo Xyloto isn’t all the hype you thought it would be or you’re already bored with your copy of Gym Class Heroes’ The Papercut Chronicles II, then maybe one of the albums in our roundup will catch your eye…

If you haven’t swooned for Zooey Deschanel yet during this lifetime, her latest video as part of She & Him (with M. Ward) may just do the trick. Not only is Deschanel a rising actress who has fit any indie film synopsis with her perfect looks and quirky and deadpan humor in the past, but she can sing (as we all know) dance, AND hula hoop! Prepare yourself for some indie cuteness with their new video for “In The Sun” below!

Zooey Deschanel and M. Ward are both relatively popular on their own, but when you put these two masterminds together, they form a wonderful little duo called She & Him. Their first album, Volume 1, was created shortly after a collaboration between Deschanel and Ward led to further discussions of Deschanel’s homemade demos. On a whim, Deschanel sent the demos to Ward, and the idea of an album was born. Initially, the duo communicated via e-mail, as Deschanel was in Los Angeles, and Ward was in Portland, but that changed after instrumentals were made on Ward’s part and Deschanel’s vocals were needed. She flew to Oregon and the album was completed in three sessions.
She & Him’s new album, Volume 2, is slated for a 2010 release. When asked about the upcoming album, Ward mentioned that it would be “twice as good as Volume 1.” Guess we’ll have to wait for it to find out! Check out She & Him below, and if you like their sound as much as we do, vote for them in Friday’s poll!

It’s that time again, so sit back and buy away because these are some great deals. This week, I actually went through some of my personal favorites and checked if they were at a low price, and well, you got lucky. Radiohead‘s In Rainbows may have been free online a couple of years ago when Radiohead decided to release the album in a set-your-own price way, but today you can get it for less than $10. And let’s face it, music that great is worth a lot more. The list also includes She & Him with the amazing actress Zooey Deschanel and The Airborne Toxic Event, a band that blew me away at this year’s Coachella Festival.
Okay, enough chit-chat, take a look below…

Although we couldn’t have been happier to experience M. Ward as the “him” in She & Him, he is back with a solo album again. The album, Hold TIme, drops February 17th via Merge Records and he’s completely prepared too. He already has a music video for the title track.
Check it out below!

Everyone’s heard the great news by now. Zooey Deschanel and Ben Gibbard are engaged! She & Him’s pale skinned actress-turned-singer brunette, Zooey Deschanel and and The Postal Service’s emotional yet socially acceptable Ben Gibbard are engaged! Hipster hearts are shattering around the nation…
Could there BE a more perfect indie union! Just think of the skills a kid of theirs will have! So we ask: Out of all three bands, who do you like most? She & Him – Deschanel’s indie country pop collaboration with M. Ward, Death Cab For Cutie – Gibbard’s primary and indie rock band, or The Postal Service - Gibbard’s secondary and electronic indie pop band? Vote and see what others think!

Prepare those wedding gifts now…Zooey Deschanel (of She & Him) is officially engaged to Ben Gibbard (frontman for Death Cab for Cutie & The Postal Service). Gibbard reportedly popped the question right before the holidays and amazingly enough got a yes from Deschanel.
Deschanel is currently starring in the movie “Yes, Man” opposite Jim Carrey. Her band She & Him also released their first record “Volume One” in March.
Congrats guys from all of us at BeatCrave- and Ben, she’s A LOT more attractive than you. Good job.
