Tinted Windows: Oddest Supergroup Ever

So, we love it when great musicians collaborate on songs. We love it even more when they form another recording group with each other. However, we’ve come across a new one and we don’t don’t really know what to say about it… Apparently, the newest pop supergroup out there right now is Tinted Windows. Who is in Tinted Windows? Well… there’s James Iha of Smashing Pumpkins (guitar), Adam Schlesinger of Fountains of Wayne (bass),  Bun E. Carlos of Cheap Trick (drums), and  Taylor Hanson from… er… Hanson (vox). Their album will be coming out in the spring.

Let’s take a moment of silence for future fans of Tinted Windows. These people will probably be going through some mental illness right before they realize how foolish their music taste was… and that will be the last straw for them…

Bun E. Carlos? Taylor Hanson?

What are you thinking? I don’t want to be alone with these thoughts.

Billy Corgan Says “No More Smashing Pumpkins Albums”

pumpkins 1 Billy Corgan Says No More Smashing Pumpkins Albums

Billy Corgan has promised that the world will not see another Smashing Pumpkins album (and we know how Billy likes to keep those promises). In an interview with the Chicago Tribune, Corgan said there was “no point” in the band releasing new albums because people wouldn’t buy them. Corgan attributes the lack of record sales not to his own bad attitude and even worse shows but instead to the internet music industry where users ” drag over the two singles, and skip over the rest.” In response the Pumpkins say they will only release singles from this point forward.

Check out a portion of the interview after the break:

Billy Corgan Ridiculed By Fan Mid-Show

pumpkins Billy Corgan Ridiculed By Fan Mid Show

To say reviews of the Smashing Pumpkins latest tour have been bad would be an understatement. I caught their tour a few month ago, and I have to say I was pretty unimpressed and disappointed with the show, to a point I don’t think I’ll be going to any shows in the future (and I was a HUGE Pumpkins fan back in the day).

Their tour stopped off in NYC this past weekend and another fan had a similar concert experience as my own. Rather than keep it to himself however this fan somehow got on stage with the band and told Corgan exactly what he thought of his poor performance the night before.

smashingpumpkins Original Smashing Pumpkins Lineup Will Never Reunite

I have bad news for people still hoping for a proper Smashing Pumpkins reunion. In a recent post on Smashing Pumpkins’ website, Billy Corgan said the four original band members will never reunite.

The subject came up in a recent blog post where Corgan was discussing the 20th anniversary tour the current lineup has embarked upon. He said that the “door was open” for original members James Iha and D’arcy Wretzky to return when Smashing Pumpkins was originally brought back to life a few years ago, but they had no desire to even discuss returning.

Smashing Pumpkins Play “Disarm” With Josh Groban!?

corgangroban Smashing Pumpkins Play Disarm With Josh Groban!?

It’s true folks. The Smashing Pumpkins took the stage at Neil Young’s Bridge School Benefit Concert in Mountain View, CA on Sunday with Josh Groban to perform the Siamese Dream classic “Disarm.”

Groban stepped in to belt out the vocals on the song like only he can and you know what, it’s not bad. The operatic singer gained some geek points for his medley of television theme songs at the Emmys, but acceptance by the Pumpkins may earn him even more street cred.

Is Josh Groban going to stage a coup and make his next release an alt-rock record? I doubt it, but that’s something I would be really curious to hear.

Watch a video of the “Disarm” performance after the break.

Smashing Pumpkins Announce 20th Anniversary Tour and DVD Set

smashingpumkins sl092408 178x240 Smashing Pumpkins Announce 20th Anniversary Tour and DVD SetThe Smashing Pumpkins are still around and they want people to be aware of it. November 1 will be the commencement of their tour to celebrate their formation in 1998. They will be doing “multi-night” stops for selected cities in the North American tour. What does “multi-night” imply? They will be playing one venue in each city twice with the first night being called “Black Sunshine” and the second named “White Crosses.” The different set lists spanning the two nights are arranged so no songs are repeated.

To go on reminiscing, they will perform at the annual Bridge School Benefit hosted by Neil Young on October 26. The band last performed at this event in 1999. It has also been confirmed that the Smashing Pumpkins will be performing their new single, “G.L.O.W.” on Jimmy Kimmel Live in Los Angeles the night before.
