To celebrate the 25th anniversary of the film This is Spinal Tap, beloved mockumentary band Spinal Tap have released a new seven-minute short film called Stonehenge: ‘Tis a Magic Place. The film is available to download exclusively from iTunes starting today for $1.99.
The seven minute short marks iTunes’ first original film, where Spinal Tap, having put Stonehenge on the map in their legendary song about the world heritage site, pay their first visit to the monument.
Twista, the fastest rapper alive and the Jonas Brothers, the biggest boy band alive both have albums dropping this week. But the most exciting is the album from rockers, Incubus. The only problem is that it’s a two-disc greatest hits album with a few new songs thrown in to get people to buy it, but fans who already own 95% of the music probably won’t.
Here is a list of all the albums coming out June 16th:
In what has to be the greatest news I’ve heard in a long time, the almightySpinal Tapwill be once again cranking it up to eleven and reuniting for a new album and North American tour. Sort of.
Rather than revisiting the crazy wigs and even crazier spandex look of 1984′s essential This Is Spinal Tap mockumentary, the trio of Christopher Guest, Harry Shearer and Michael McKean will perform as themselves. The 30-city “Unwigged & Unplugged” tour begins April 17th in Vancouver and will, awesomely, also feature songs from the 2003 folk music comedy A Mighty Wind. No skin tight pants in exchange for the possibility of hearing “Old Joe’s Place” live seems like a decent trade off. With that said, the band is also apparently planning a few live performances in full Spinal Tap gear, which hasn’t happened since their hilariously all star studded performance at Live Earth London in 2007.

Spinal Tap will come back together this year to record their first album since 1992. Harry Shearer, aka Derek Smalls, announced to the BBC today that the band would come together to record new material in their first reunion since 2006′s Live Earth concert. The album will be available for download and in stores.
Spinal Tap is a great movie, but I don’t know about actually wanting to buy an album that has no songs that have anything to do with the movie. There is no word as to whether the new songs will be performed at 11 or at a lower volume.
