Death Cab For Cutie Does First Single For New Moon Soundtrack New Moon Soundtracks Complete Track Listing Announced!

The New Moon soundtrack has been announced, and it couldn’t be any more different from the first one! We knew it was going to have an indie sound, but this is just ridiculous! Ridiculous in a good way, anyway.

We had known about Thom Yorke, Bon Iver, Band of Skulls, and Death Cab For Cutie but who knew the Bon Iver track was going to be a duet with St. Vincent! Others that were recently suspected and now confirmed are The Killers, Grizzly Bear, and Stephanie Meyer’s muse, Muse.

Although one part of us is surprised that indie darlings, Anya Marina and Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, are also in the mix, another part says this makes sense. A few of these artists are somehow associated with Alexandra Patsavas’ label, Chop Shop, or her close friends, Nettwerk Music Group. Check out the full track list below and tell us what you think!

Performing at the Central Presbyterian Church, St. Vincent gave an amazing performance on Wednesday night at SXSW. They are an eccentric group that could easily be confused for an orchestra with the variety of instruments, which they utilize in completely unexpected ways. They deliver so much passion through their music, that you hope it never ends.

Check out their photos from the show below…

LOST in Indie Rock – Which Indie Rockers Would Play Lost Characters

lostmusic09 2 19 LOST in Indie Rock Which Indie Rockers Would Play Lost Characters

Remember in high school when your English teacher would make you write compare and contrast essays?  Well, for some reason I always tried to sneak just a comparison paper by her – I hated writing the contrast part.  Something about how if two things are inherently different, its more fun to find similarities than to point out the obvious differences. I love comparing books to movies, movies to TV shows, apples to oranges (they’re both round) – hell, whatever comes to mind.  This article is aimed at taking my two favorite things in the world and smashing them together: LOST and music.

BeatCrave Fav: St. Vincent

 BeatCrave Fav: St. Vincent

St. Vincent is the band of multi-instrumentalist and singer-songwriter, Annie Clark. Yeah, she’s got the beautiful complexion, hair, AND the talent. However, those are just a few reasons why Clark  is one the greatest new artists out there.  She’s been a member of the Polyphonic Spree as well as Sufjan Steven’s band. Clark  has also worked with Amanda Palmer of The Dresden Dolls.

Yet, while other musicians have admired her talents, fans didn’t get a chance to truly value her solo style until her debut album, Marry Me, was released in 2007. Filled with ethereal, witty, and detailed pop melodies underneath soothing vocals, the album’s made St. Vincent quite a name in the indie music scene.

Check St. Vincent out  below and vote for her in Friday’s BeatCrave Fav poll! Come on. Any musician who can back up an album title inspired by Arrested Development is just great.
