This week, Aerosmith‘s Steven Tyler announced that if the band were to stay together, they would leave Columbia Records for good and go the indie route. He’s done it before, he can do it again. Justin Bieber released another music video, this time for “Beauty and a Beat,” just another song about wanting a girlfriend. And Lana Del Rey debuted a music video about what it’s like to be crazy. Things certainly seem to be getting a bit wacky at American Idol—the long-running reality TV contest is currently on the hunt for new judges, and after nabbing professional nut Mariah Carey, rumors abounded that Kanye West and Nicki Minaj would be added to the roster. While that seemed a smidge unlikely, it seems they’ve reached out to yet another (slightly less currently luminous) pop star—Alanis Morissette.

You might’ve already heard that Aerosmith will be hitting the road again this summer, starting June 16th in Minneapolis, but here’s another surprise – there’s also an album in the works. Rolling Stone reports that during a press conference at the Grove mall in Los Angeles, the Steven Tyler and company confirmed their Global Warming tour and also announced that their next album would be out this year. The 63 year old American Idol host and Aerosmith frontman apparently took a tumble in the shower in Asuncion, Paraguay on Tuesday—but Tyler swears that it has nothing to do with his long battle with substance abuse, and that he has not fallen off the wagon.

As part of his recent quest to regain some relevance, Aerosmith lead singer Steven Tyler will be releasing a memoir this May, according to Show Biz Spy. The book, entitled Does the Noise in My Head Bother You?, will likely deal with all the usual trials and tribulations of rock star life–sex, drugs, and reluctantly fading into pop culture obscurity. Tyler said that the process of writing it was “cathartic.”
