scottweiland Scott Weiland Of Stone Temple Pilots Inexplicably Releases Christmas Standards Album

Today in Jesus Christ, Are You Seriously Doing This? news:  Long-troubled Stone Temple Pilots singer (and former frontman of Velvet Revolver), Scott Weiland, has recorded an album… of traditional Christmas standards.  I cannot even begin to emphasize how bizarre this is.  Scott Weiland has gone the Rod Stewart route and has recorded an album of standards for you to listen to during the Christmas holiday.

Another year, another month, another day, another cancelled Stone Temple Pilots tour.  It was has unfortunately become a regular habit of the long-running 1990s rock hotshots, STP announced today that they will be cancelling that last leg of their current United States tour.  However, it will be the first time the band has cancelled a tour for reasons that didn’t stem from singer Scott Weiland’s oft-reported drug and alcohol problems.

scott weiland09 2 05 Stone Temple Pilots Delay Tour Following Scott Weilands Onstage Rant

Scott Weiland went a little too ‘Scott Weiland’ during a Stone Temple Pilots’ concert in Houston on Sunday. Following the show, and Weiland’s display of erratic stage behavior, the band has announced they’ll reschedule a dozen tour dates so the recently reunited quartet can have a short break then resume around mid-October in Florida.

No specific reason was given for the tour switch-up, but Weiland’s on-stage banter was described as ‘odd and confusing’ by a Houston Press reviewer, and perhaps a quick break from the road is in order.

Watch a clip of Scott Weiland’s Houston rant below!

Stone Temple Pilots Finished With New Album Stone Temple Pilots Finished With New Album

It’s been about nine years since Stone Temple Pilots have officially released a studio album together, but once this group gets going it seems like they won’t be stopping for a while. Not only are they putting the finishing touches on their follow up to 2001′s Shangri-La-Dee-Da a and 6th album, but they’re about to hop on a massive tour. scottweiland Concert Review of Scott Weiland at The Henry Fonda Theater

There’s no doubt about it; Scott Weiland will go down in history as one of the 90′s best vocalists and front men. If anyone says otherwise, I’m more than willing to get out of my comfortable lounge chair and go toe-to-toe in a verbal beat-down as to why he is in fact the man. However, the term “behind every great man is a great women” would remain the same – with an arsenal of talented musicians backing his every move in Stone Temple Pilots & Velvet Revolver, it’s easy to forget that Scott Weiland has some incredibly talented music makers behind his vocal cords. One would assume it’s their magic that fueled Scott’s voice to give us hits such as “Sour Girl,” “Push,” and “Slither” that just so happened to make us fans for life.
