Sunset Rubdown, an art rock band from Montreal, Quebec and former BeatCrave Fav, originally started as a solo project for Wolf Parade member, Spencer Krug, but has since then grown into a four piece who all seem to be obsessed with dragons. Their latest video for “Dragon’s Lair,” a track off of their latest album, Dragonslayer, is nearly 11 minutes but does not actually feature any dragons.

SR BRM 081309 Sunset Rubdown: BeatCrave Fav

It needs to be officially stated that Spencer Krug is a genius.  From Swan Lake to Wolf Parade, Frog Eyes to Fifths of Seven Spencer has a plethora of bands and side projects under his super-composer, singer, songwriter, keyboard killing belt that it’s hard to believe he’s not as household a name as another busy music bee by the name of Jack.  Sunset Rubdown utilizes the skills of Mr. Krug  and throws in some other Canadian super talents like Camilla Wynne Ingr and Jordon Robson-Cramer to create the kind of band almost anyone with a taste for indie rock will absolutely devour.

While the group has been making sweet noise since 2005 it is with their recently released LP, Dragonslayer, that BeatCrave felt it completely necessary to enlist this lovechild of Krug and associates into the ever elitist BeatCrave Fav series.  If you like music, you’ll love these guys and if you love them already, vote for them this Friday in the BeatCrave Fav of the week poll!
