tbt Concert Picks: Trampled By Turtles, The Antlers, Vanaprasta...

We don’t know about anyone else, but we can’t feel our toes. Our fingertips, either. Ears and noses aren’t far behind; in short, it is cooo-oooold. Winter technically isn’t for another two weeks, but seriously – ouch. Scarves and thick socks haven’t yet done the trick, so we’re moving on to the next best thing – going to a show. From standing-room-only bodies to rhythms inciting movement, it’s the next best option at keeping warm and showing love for more-than-interesting talent. Win-win, no? Check out our picks below.

For those of us who attended the last day of Lollapalooza early, we experienced some unexpected rain. (It was unexpected for us who didn’t check the weather forecast, at least.) Ponchos, umbrellas and galoshes came out but the rain was a bit more than an inconvenience since Chicago is the windy city after all. However, that wasn’t going to stop us from making our last day of the festival a great one and after hearing a bit of HEALTH and Frank Turner, we headed over to the main Budweiser stage for some Brooklyn melodies from The Antlers.

The Antlers Music Video Bear The Antlers Music Video: Bear

“Bear” was one of The Antlers‘ biggest singles off of their tragically gorgeous album, Hospice, but they have just recently gotten around to providing a video to accompany the song. Although not animated like “Two,” the band continues its theme of loneliness, struggle and sickness. The treatment for this video focuses on a weak woman traveling who has too heavy of a load. Metaphoric enough for you? Although sad, the storyline still pours out beauty making it a wonderful team up with the melody.

Hospice also made our Top 20 Albums of 2009 list back in December, so we’re excited when anything new in any form comes from these guys. Check the video out below and let us know what you think!

Antlers Music Video For Two The Antlers Music Video For Two

The Antlers are known for their melancholic melodies that may be better suited for the end of your day, but there’s no doubt that their songs also make up some of today’s best poetry in the indie world.

Their latest music video is for “Two,” a track off of their album, Hospice. In regards to the somewhat gloomy theme, the reasoning is explained in a statement which frontman, Peter Silberman, gave Stereogum back in June: “One of those [jobs]  involved a lot of time in a hospital. That’s where the record came from. Sometimes we were in a hospital, and often times the hospital followed us home.”
