Hot on the heels of the announcement of a biopic based on the life of The Clash lead singer Joe Strummer, we get word that the late Strummer’s former Clash bandmates Paul Simonon and Mick Jones are set to produce a film about the making of the band’s legendary album London Calling.

The Clash’s late great frontman Joe Strummer is going to be the subject of a new biopic.

British movie company Film4 is shepherding the project, entitled Joe Public. Screendaily.com reports that screenwriter Paul Viragh, who wrote the Ian Dury biopic Sex & Drugs & Rock & Roll, will handle script duties.

No one has been cast in the juicy lead role yet.

A classic in every punk-rock sense of the word, The Clash’s London Calling is turning 30 this month. What better time to re-release one of the greatest, most influential albums of all-time!

London Calling: 30th Anniversary Legacy Edition will hit shelves Dec 14th; the package features a remastered version of the 1979 album, a DVD that includes Don Letts’ documentary The Last Testament: The Making of London Calling, three music videos and home movies of the band recording the album in London’s Wessex Studios.

Perhaps somewhere Joe Strummer is smiling.

Former members of The Clash, Mick Jones and Nicky “Topper” Headon, have ventured into the recording studio  together for the first time in almost 30 years.

The occasion? The duo reworked a version of the band’s 1978 song “Jail Guitar Doors”  for the charity of the same name. Jones and Headon were joined in the studio by folk singer/activist  Billy Bragg and four former prison inmates.
