Hey, remember in the early 2000s when the band The Darkness came out of nowhere and became inexplicably popular with their exuberant mishmash of Queen and ‘80s hair metal (just go with pretend you remember, and say “yes,” ok?). Well, two albums, an obligatory trip to rehab, and an even more obligatory messy breakup later, The Darkness have reunited and are coming to rock a venue near you. So… yay?

The Darkness is reuniting — or so they say. According to The Sun, Justin and Dan Hawkins are currently demoing new material for a possible followup to One Way Ticket to Hell… and Back, the band’s last album before Justin said so long.
The Sun reports that if the new material is to the label staff’s liking then there will be an attempt to reunite The Darkness. However, for the last three hours or so, Justin has been sending messages via twitter denying all of these “reform” rumors:

Word on the street is The Darkness may be reforming in 2009 AND releasing a new record. The band parted ways back in 2006 and have had what appears to be nothing but bad blood between them since. Justin and Dan Hawkins (who are brothers) have reportedly had a strained relationship since the end of the band and Ed Graham the bands guitarist and drummer is supposedly suing the band’s management over money he claims to be owed.
Given all that, reconciliation doesn’t seem all that likely….but who knows. Would you like too see the band back together or do you think The Darkness is best left apart?
