Ah, Halloween weekend – easily the scariest one around, especially if you’re still looking for a costume and still deciding which party you’ll go to. Don’t forget, though, your musical needs need meeting, and we’ve a few ways outside of the iPod and Spotify in which to satisfy that. A new music video has been released from the group The Fiery Furnces, and it’s called “Even in the Rain.” The video is directed by Daily Show and Saturday Night Live writer Scott Jacobson for the single featured on their album, I’m Going Away. If you don’t know anything about the counterculture revolution of the sixties, this video will quickly educate you.

First off, can someone explain to me why Sugar Ray is still making new records?!! Putting the old and no-longer relevant aside, we move to the old and still worth our attention. This week 70-year old English singer-songwriter Ian Hunter has a new album dropping as well as 61-year-old America singer-songwriter Kenny Loggins. These two prove, talent gets better over time. Bubble-gum pop/R&B singer Jordin Sparks, of American Idol fame, also has an album coming out this week and if anything, her amazing voice should inspire you to give her album a shot.

Guster has officially signed on to play 5 acoustic songs at a fundraiser for Barack Obama at the Music Hall of Williamsburg in Brooklyn NY on October 7th. Also on the bill are Les Savy Fav, Andrew Bird, Aline Simone, Martin Bisi, The Fiery Furnaces, and another super secret band they’re refusing to mention. The show will be held Tuesday October 7th in Brooklyn, N. And just to sweeten the deal, they’ve added a number of great comedians to the bill as well (more info below).
