I am a firm believer that there are enough Christmas tree ornaments in the world and there is no need to buy anymore awful ornaments every year. However, that all changed today. Today I saw a video for The Flaming Lips’ Silver Trembling Fetus Christmas tree ornament. Lead singer, Wayne Coyne, even says it is rumored, but not scientifically proven, to make you smarter! Now who doesn’t want that? For the first time in years, I really wish I had a Christmas tree so I could hang a vibrating silver fetus on it. If you are completely sold on it, you can buy it here.

Are you ready for some old school record action? This weekend marks the annual WFMU Record Fair in NYC. To celebrate, Warner Bros. Records is bringing vinyl to the people by hosting a booth you’ve got to check out.
Warner Bros. Records General Manager Tom Biery calls himself a vinyl freak and admits that there is not better place than the WFMU show to sell music directly to fans.
“I have been going to the show for years and have always thought that having a WBR/Reprise booth to sell our records would be a ton of fun as well as a great learning experience.”

We told you it was happening. Just a day after their not-so-secret show in LA, those who were not lucky enough to attend the show also got word that The Flaming Lips would be covering Pink Floyd’s Dark Side of the Moon in its entirety.
LA may get a few a things behind New York, but sometimes the city of angels does have a chance to grab things first. For instance, Wayne and the guys stopped by KCRW for a session and interview during Morning Becomes Eclectic on Friday, and it’s all been taped for the fans! The session includes their cover of “Eclipse” – which is off of Dark Side of the Moon! Get your first taste of the album.
Listen to it here, or watch the whole thing below after the jump!

If you were one of the lucky ones to attend last night’s Los Angeles Flaming Lips show, you may already know this. However, we’ve got great news for everyone else!
According to the Los Angeles Times (via P4k), The Flaming Lips told concert-goers (during Q&A) that a cover of Pink Floyd‘s Dark Side of the Moon is in the works.
The band has always been on for attention grabbing, and they sure have it now. Forget the walking in a bubble. This cover album will surely be the focus of music critics all over.

Check out The Flaming Lips new two minute song “I Can Be A Frog” with a hot girl in a bikini dancing around like a mad woman pretending to be all the things he’s singing about. I for one am on the fence about this video. Some people are calling it “pure imagination” and others “pointless.” I get that The Flaming Lips create work that inspires you to use your imagination, but if I have to use it in order to create somethine that’s not there, than it is in fact pointless.
Check out the video below and decide for yourself…
