Thomas “Tommy” Marth, a talented musician best known as the live touring and studio saxophonist for the Las Vegas based band The Killers, died earlier this week, according to Rolling Stone. Marth apparently died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to his head. Marth was 33 years old.

Brandon Flowers has finally pulled the curtain back on his first solo tune, which he released on his website last night. The song “Crossfire” is from Flowers’ 10-track debut, Flamingo, due to be released in September.
The Killers vocalist enlisted the help of numerous collaborators like Jenny Lewis and producers Stuart Price, Brendan O’Brien and Daniel Lanois for his first, non-Killers release.

While the protracted Killers hiatus at first sounded like nothing but a wonderful, wonderful thing, it has led to a potentially horrifying/ disastrous consequence—a solo record, Flamingo, from Killers frontman/ Springsteen-lite Brandon Flowers. The record does, however, at least sound interesting, as Spinner reports that not only will it feature production work by Daniel Lanois (U2, Bob Dylan) and Brendan O’Brien (Springsteen, Pearl Jam), the record will also feature duets with Rilo Kiley frontwoman and solo chanteuse Jenny Lewis.
