Albums of the Week: The Bad, The Good, The Great Kid Cudi Vs. You, Me, and Everyone We Know

A fresh round of new album releases this week shows us the consequences of some things not washing out (at least for You, Me, and Everyone We Know), even Trent Reznor can’t resist facebook (at first denying the offer, then accepting and scoring it “a shade darker”), and despite being arrested for drug possession and pining emotionally about the past, Kid Cudi’s musical odyssey continues as a bold step into a newer, deeper sound.

Listen Another Trent Reznor Track From The Social Network Listen: Another Trent Reznor Track From The Social Network

Facebook may have died for a short amount of time yesterday just in time for everyone to be talking about the upcoming film, The Social Network. (Could it all have been part of Justin Timberlake’s evil plot?) We don’t need a dramatized version of the life story. If we were going to watch a movie about a social network, it would be this one anyway – and yes, we’re well aware that it’s a spoof.

However, there’s always one thing that can save a story we could care less about – the music. Just look at what the second and third soundtracks for the Twilight Saga did! Bon Iver + Vampires = Tolerable! Broken Social Scene and Beck also revved Scott Pilgrim vs. The World up and now Trent Reznor of Nine Inch Nails is going to stamp some credibility on The Social Network‘s score. However, you can decide if the music will do a good enough job…

In July it was announced that Nine Inch Nails frontman Trent Reznor would be lending his musical talent to the score of The Social Network. If you’re not familiar with the film, it’s a semi-biographical account of the founding of Facebook. It includes plenty of sex, drugs, and computers and in this case a haunting score by a rock-god. Take a listen to one of the songs below…
