Good news for fans of all things Radiohead: in a recent interview with Rolling Stone, Radiohead frontman Thom Yorke announced that two albums are coming down the pipe—a new disc from Yorke’s side project, Atoms for Peace, as well as a new Radiohead album, despite the fact that the band just released The King Limbs earlier this year.

For a band that clearly places quality over hype, Radiohead still does a very good job of promoting their new material, albeit for positive reasons. Although bands had been releasing albums for free long before Thom Yorke and his bandmates got in on the act, their pay-what-you-want policy for In Rainbows was a major talking point among music fans and writers for a year.
Now, with Spinner reporting the band’s surprise announcement that their new album will be available this upcoming Saturday, February 19, they’ve found a new way to spark listeners’ interest.

Thom Yorke’s supergroup side-project – Atoms For Peace – played their first of two, sold-out shows Monday night at New York City’s Roseland Ballroom. The band, which features Red Hot Chili Peppers bassist Flea, producer Nigel Godrich, Beck drummer Joey Waronker and percussionist Mauro Refosco, opened the night by playing Yorke’s 2006 debut album The Eraser in its entirety, which must have been a thrill for those in attendance.

Thom Yorke took the liberty of debuting three new songs while he was playing in Cambridge, England last night. Playing as part of a benefit show for Green Party member, Tony Juniper, the frontman of Radiohead and now new solo band, Atoms For Peace, gave a sneak peek of what may just become recordings later on? (There are rumors of Yorke going into the studio for Atoms For Peace.) These are indeed three new songs since the last time Yorke and his band played the surprise show in Los Angeles a few months ago.

Remember when we all saw the Coachella 2010 lineup and wondered why in the world Thom Yorke‘s name was followed by four question marks? We had assumed that was how his new solo band was going to be billed from now on. Well, it looks like the super group backing band for Yorke (with producer Nigel Godrich, drummer Joey Waronker, multi-instrumentalist Mauro Refosco, and bassist Flea), finally has an official and sensible name.
Yorke announced it himself on Radiohead’s blog, Dead Air Space, and revealed the following:

We recently shared the Coachella 2010 lineup with you earlier today which included Thom Yorke as a sub-headliner. (According to Entertainment Weekly, the four questions that follow his name is how he and his new band will be billed from now on.) Between working on songs with his new band and getting new material ready for another Radiohead album, Yorke has managed to stay very busy this year.
He continues to be active by going on the radio to co-host BBC’s Radio 1 show. According to the show’s website (via TwentyFourBit), Yorke will “join the musical dots – soul, hip hop, house, Afro, Latin, dubstep, jazz and beyond.” Well, that sounds fun.

The Fiery Furnaces have always been very opinionated – or passionate, if you’d like to use that term instead. Brother and sister, Matthew and Eleanor Friedberger are about being genuine, original, and definitely “not concerned about selling t-shirts.”
We’re all for musicians speaking their minds, whether we asked for their thoughts or not in the first place, and the duo has been commendable especially since they recently turned their shows into Health Care Reform rallies. However, in a recent interview the two go as far as calling Radiohead “frauds” when they talk about what a musician should be.

Right this moment, you can head over to Amazon and stream the entire New Moon soundtrack. That’s right, you can listen to tracks 1 – 15 as much as you want before the actual album release date! The only catch is that you’re only given 30 second clips for each song. We know; what a tease!
However, 30 seconds of one of most highly anticipated compilation put together for a film just might be worth it. You can finally hear what Thom Yorke, Grizzly Bear, Bon Iver & St. Vincent have secretly been cooking up.
