Tigercity. Hmm. We couldn’t tell whether or not their name referred to ‘a place where tigers live’ or ‘what it means to be a tiger’, but we could tell that their blissful marriage with disco, rock, and new wave made even us children of the nineties feel young and alive. A collective throwback sound akin to Hall & Oates, The BeeGees, and Prince (yes, we said it) has resulted, however being far from their complete and total “angle.”  The Northampton, Mass.,-based foursome’s tracks are engaging in spite of the comparisons that are drawn; their retro interpretation is refreshing, not lukewarm.

There are plans for a new digital LP to be released this fall (entitled Ancient Lover), post-tour or otherwise. With the type of recognition they’ve received thus far, we’ve no doubt that they’ll remain consistent when it comes to leaving their mark on the music world.
