Pop singer Nelly Furtado made multiplatinum waves in the music industry with her 2006 album, Loose. She teamed up with super producer Timbaland to create such number one hits as “Promiscuous” and “Say it Right.” According to the Associated Press, Furtado plans on making a dramatic creative and lingual shift for her latest album, by performing all of the tracks in Spanish.

 Poll: Do You Think Timbaland Stole Music For Nelly Furtado?

Timbaland is being sued for stealing music from Finnish artist, Janne Suni. According to Kernal Records (who acquired Suni’s composition in 2007), the popular producer used “original and central identifying melodic, harmonic and rhythmic components” of the song “Acidjazzed Evening,” to create Nelly Furtado‘s “Do It” off of her latest album, Loose.

The Daily Swarm also reports that “Kernel Records has also named the Mosley Music Group, Interscope-Geffen-A&M and Universal Music Distribution as co-defendants in the lawsuit” because of the single’s inclusion on the multi-platinum selling album and a live CD/DVD.

When Timbaland was asked about the lawsuit in a 2007 interview on WWDC’s “Elliott in the Morning,” he replied with the following:

Chris Cornell and Timbaland?! I was just as surprised as you. Although, I probably shouldn’t have been (and neither should you). Cornell has been experimenting with music ever since grunge pioneers Soundgarden broke up and parted ways. He has worked with hard rock supergroup Audioslave with ex-members of Rage Against the Machine and has pursued a solo career. His latest endeavor is the album Scream, produced by rapper/singer Timbaland, which is a radically different direction for the musician.

Cornell was interviewed by Will Harris by Bullzeye about the production of Scream and what it was like meeting and working with Timbaland., here is what he had to say…
