We were lucky enough to attend KCRW‘s Tron: Legacy soundtrack preview event just a couple of weekends ago. Music Supervisor and KCRW DJ, Jason Bentley, sat down to chat with director, Joseph Kosinski, about his love for electronic music and also preview five different music cues from the score.
Today, KCRW will have the entire event available for streaming on demand when you go to their website. Jason Bentley will also be playing some portions from the event on his show, Morning Becomes Eclectic, this morning at 10 AM PST. For the first time ever, they’ll be airing these exclusive cues for those weren’t able to attend.

Earlier today at Apogee’s Berkeley Street Studios in Santa Monica, CA, KCRW hosted a Tron: Legacy listening party event which featured world renowned DJ Jason Bentley as the host and Tron‘s director Joseph Kosinski as their special guest. For an intimate gathering in a cozy-sized room, the in-depth conversation was quite powerful as the film is expected to be when it hits theaters.
For a little over an hour, we got a brief sense of what it was like behind the scenes in regards to the making of the film’s score as well as Kosinski’s love for electronic music – specifically, Daft Punk. We were also lucky enough to feast our ears on five specific music cues – each played in their entirety – giving us an imaginary glimpse into the world of Tron through our audio senses.

A tidal wave of buzz has been building around Tron Legacy, the sequel to the classic 1980′s Tron, and the Tron Legacy soundtrack, crafted by house/ electronic music duo Daft Punk. And, in addition to the Tron Legacy soundtrack being the band’s first full-length release since 2005’s Human After All, the mysterious band, known for their leather and helmeted stage garb, Daft Punk have also revolutionized (or Tron-ized), their look for the cameo in the new film, according to InTheMix:

Yesterday, we revealed the new and longer official trailer to Tron: Legacy (from yesterday’s Comic-Con press conference) to remind everyone that new Daft Punk music is coming our way. Well guess what? We can finally listen to some of the real material after all this torturous teasing from snippets in trailers, fake leaks and fake tour dates!
Although the trailer itself for Tron was epic, just wait until you hear six instrumental bits from the score! Yes, they’re available to stream and yes, there are SIX different samples to listen to! Believe us. We’re trying our hardest not to have an internal combustion from geek overload, too!

Comic-Con has begun! The convention which is annually held in San Diego is focused on the comics but each and every franchise in the entertainment industry has dug their heels deep into the event with press conferences, interviews, exclusive previews and more to promote, promote, promote. So what’s the one thing we care about the most this year in regards to music? The exact same thing we obsessed over last year at Comic-Con: Tron: Legacy. Why? New. Daft. Punk. Music.

No matter how many other soundtracks we’ve covered on the site during the past year, there is no other soundtrack people care about more than the upcoming Tron Legacy soundtrack. Not only is this sequel to the 1982 film going to be massive in itself but it managed to get the perfect composers to score a film that’s so futuristic. Yes, we know you know. Daft Punk! It’s a match made in heaven. (Come on. Daft Punk + Tron seems way more fitting than indie ballads + vampires + werewolves.)
Well, now we have some news for you. It’s not much but at least it’s something. The Tron Legacy soundtrack which Daft Punk will be supporting on tour is set to drop on…

Ever since Comic Con earlier this year, film and music buffs have been hyperventilating at the thought of a trailer and some new music from electronic French duo Daft Punk in regards to Tron Legacy which is due out December 2010. However, as we’ve previously mentioned Daft Punk fans may be just a bit more psyched for the score than for the actual movie. Not only will the band be making cameos in the film, but they will also be touring in support of the Tron Legacy soundtrack.
After numerous teases with fake new Daft Punk and Tron Legacy-related songs over the last few months (including this one) as well as fake tour dates, we finally have a taste of some new material. It can be heard in the last half of the trailer which you can watch below.

There are probably more people excited about Daft Punk doing the soundtrack to Tron Legacy than there are about the actual release of the movie. It looks like some fans have done some heavy digging and found a leaked track from the film entitled, “Fragile.” Could this be the first jam to lead the futuristic inspired soundtrack?

First, we found out that Daft Punk was going to score the film, Tron Legacy (slated for release in December 2010). Then we found out that they would be touring in support of the film’s soundtrack. Well, NOW, we’ve got word that the electronic duo will appear as themselves in the actual film!
Of course, no one is saying that Daft Punk are actually any supporting characters, but they will be making a cameo according to leading star, Olivia Wilde. In an interview with MTV.com, she let slip out that the duo “were in the movie,” (meaning that it’s already been done) and that the franchise has “some ideas in the works about how to incorporate them into a Comic-Con event.”
