Rostam Batmanglij, not content to merely be a member of one of the hippest bands on the planet and be badass enough to have the word ”Batman” in his last name, plans to join the likes of Trent Reznor and Radiohead’s Johnny Greenwood, adding his name to the list of rock stars who have tried their hand at scoring a film, according to Exclaim.Ca. The film, entitled The Sound of My Voice, is a psychological thriller co-written by Batmanglij’s brother Zal.

Coming on stage with “All I do is Win” was the most memorable moment of Vampire Weekend’s set during Austin City Limits. There is no other band that could take the stage with that song and pull it off, but the boys from Vampire executed it with near surgeon-like precision. Too bad the rest of the performance didn’t fare as well…

Beyond the western horizon, nestled within the city of Austin, awaits a festival teeming with holistic musical vibes and a down-home appeal that you could only get from an oasis in the heart of Texas.
Stemming back to 2002, Austin City Limits is still holding tight to its roots this year. Bringing together rock, hip-hop, reggae, world fusion, indie and local flavor, the festival is proving to have its most memorable year yet.

Vampire Weekend and their lawyers are still in the midst of a lawsuit from a woman named Ann Kirsten Kennis. Who is Kennis? She’s the one supporting the band’s preppy look on the cover of their album, Contra, as seen above. The entire thing has become a muddle of accusations concerning forgery and copyright leaving the boys of Vampire Weekend and their label sitting in regret.
As we explained before, Kennis claims the photo was used without her permission while Tod Brody claims he had gotten a signature allowing him to pass it on. Brody and Kennis also argue over who truly took the photo. She believes her mother took the snap shot while Brody insists that he captured her stunning essence during a casting session back in 1983. Considering the fact that Vampire Weekend has never had to deal with such an issue before, they are somewhat at a loss for words in regards to whether they were dealing with a shady or legit photo release. However, Kennis had a few words of her own.

In case you haven’t already heard, Caucasoid Afro-poppers/ backlash magnets Vampire Weekend were slapped with a $2 million lawsuit last week by Kirsten Kennis, who claims that the super-preppy 1983 snapshot of her used as the band’s most recent album cover was used without her permission, and that the her signature on the photo release form is a—gasp!—forgery.

Despite frontman Ezra Koenig musing to the BBC back in April that “the band has ‘a few little things we’ve worked on that’ll come out this year,/ and that, moreover, Vampire Weekend had already begun ‘preliminary talks’ about a proposed third album almost immediately after having finished their second,” it looks like the rising tide of Vampire Weekend haters may not have to begin fashioning nooses out of their increasingly too-skinny jeans. At least, not yet, according to Spinner.

Love or hate these bands, as Pitchfork rightly reports, “indie rock tours in 2010 don’t come much bigger than this,” and it’s hard to argue with them: a North American headlining trek for Vampire Weekend, with support from Beach House and the Dum Dum Girls, is a savvy rock promoter’s dream, lacing together as it does VW’s collegiate and Caucasoid pseudo world-rock, Beach House’s glacial and gorgeous pop, and the roughed-up girl-group garage pop of the Dum Dum Girls. If you own a pair of skinny jeans, or think that you don’t look like an ass in that fedora, this tour’s for you.
